I've been thinking. It's obvious that there's alot of japanese players that don't want to interact with ppl that isn't japanese. So, why arent SE making a server for them?
Everyone that is scared to death to interact with someone who doesnt speak their language can move there.
No more "JPonly" seacoms.
And those players don't have to be bothered by "english speaking" ppl to send the tells for this that or the other.
Just my thought about it. Anyone agree?

Mixed languages has become part of FFXI, and I think it would lose a great touch to the game if there were set language servers. There are tools to help you aid in communicating with other languages and it's what makes FFXI unique from all the other MMOs.

I'd be worried that I'd lose my japanese friends because they felt obligated to move to a JP onry server :/ I've grown attached to all the "www"
Honestly I don't want to interact with a jp person that is going to prejudice me because I can't type or talk like them.
I do have to say, I did have a jp in my assault party this morning that was doing a damn good job of understanding us and helping us out even though the whole language barrier thing.

Sure would make things less annoying though. Anyone havent been trying to build a party when 99% of the seacoms says "JPonly"? Atleast living in EU and beeing on carby server that happens all the time.
Even got kicked out from a mission party because I didnt speak japanese.
And it makes sense to me, if they really don't want anything to do with non-japanese players, just put them on their own server.

Only Japanese or English only.
My point is, it's a multi-language game. People need to learn to accept that they are going to run into people that don't speak X language and need to try and communicate with them. Not just outcast them from the start. If people don't like dealing with non-English/what have you, then leave. It's simple.

I've never ran into anyone that's German, French, or Russian that doesn't know any english. Plus I don't think they make a large percent of the population, hell even a small percent...

You don't really need to talk at all. You just go in and do your job. That's partly why I rather EXP with LS mates, though. Makes grinding so much more fun.
I just save time and put the basic info in a /seacom - Level Sync requirement, tnl, ToAU area only (Need that standing, need it!) and "{I don't know any Japanese}"

Not sure about EU, but for NA, our peak time is generally when JPs are asleep (atleast the JP onry ones) so I just don't encounter it too often.
PSU (Phantasy Star Universe) kind of had a JP server, but was a world. Was Universe 16 where the JPs would hang out. (but on this game you could change servers any time in seconds)

you know.... not ALL of the JP players are JP only. i think SE made it like that to have a community of people working together and get past things like language barriers. they could've just not given us a translator and then where would we be? >.<

PSU JP always been strictly separated from EU/NA. Not the same gameclient, not the same billing website, not the same board and update always been earlier on JP servers... Was exactly the same on PSO.

Even though I have several JP friends I think FFXI would have been better with region/language oriented servers. The auto translate function still lacks a lot of structure and I find myself having to use elementary google translates to get my message across when doing certain events. That and *** combined EG drama.
