Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 10, 2026
This policy explains what information FFXIAH collects, why we use it, and what choices you have.
FFXIAH is a community site and a public game-data service. If you post something publicly, assume that anyone can see it.
Information We Collect
-
Account and profile information.
If you create an account, we store your username, email address, password hash, country code, preferences, notification choices, avatars, and any social or gaming handles you add.
-
Content and communications.
We store what you post or send through the site. This includes forum posts, comments, private messages, reports, screenshots, item sets, shopping and wanted listings, linkshell information, and messages to us. We also keep moderation and account-security records.
-
Final Fantasy XI information.
We collect character names, servers, linkshell memberships, verification details, and related game information. Auction-house transactions and other market data come from public in-game sources and are normally shown publicly.
-
Technical and usage information.
When you visit, our servers and service providers receive details such as your IP address, the page requested, date and time, referring page, browser and device type, cookie or session identifiers, and error information.
-
Transactions and correspondence.
If you donate, buy advertising, or contact us, we keep the details needed to handle the transaction or reply. PayPal and other payment providers handle payment details under their own privacy terms.
How We Use Information
We use this information to run the site, secure accounts, provide community and market-data features, verify characters, remember preferences, send requested notifications, and answer support requests.
We also use it to stop abuse, enforce site rules, fix errors, understand how the site is used, measure advertising, and meet legal requirements.
Public Information
Usernames, public profiles, selected social handles, verified characters, forum posts, comments, screenshots, item sets, and listings can be seen by anyone and may appear in search engines. Private messages can be seen by their participants. Staff may access them when needed to operate, secure, or moderate the site.
Auction-house transactions and other public game data are part of FFXIAH's historical market record. Hiding or unlinking a character does not remove records that FFXIAH collected independently from public sources.
Cookies, Analytics, and Advertising
FFXIAH uses cookies to keep you signed in, protect your account, and remember settings such as your selected server. Session cookies expire when the session ends. Sign-in and preference cookies may last up to one year.
Google Analytics helps us understand how people use the site. Google and other advertising services deliver and measure ads. Google reCAPTCHA helps protect forms from abuse. These companies may receive device details, usage data, cookie identifiers, and advertising data. Because that information can identify a browser or device, we do not treat it as anonymous.
You can limit cookies in your browser and use any privacy controls offered by the site or an advertising provider. Blocking sign-in or session cookies may keep some features from working.
How We Disclose Information
We share information with companies that help us run FFXIAH. These include Google for analytics, advertising, and reCAPTCHA; Sentry for error monitoring; Mailgun for email; PayPal for payments; and our hosting, storage, and content-delivery providers.
We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect the site or its users, or if ownership of the service changes.
FFXIAH does not sell personal information for money. Ad providers do receive identifiers and activity data to select or measure ads. Some privacy laws call this sharing, targeted advertising, or a sale.
Retention
We keep account information while an account is open. Community content stays on the site until you delete it, delete your account, or we remove it. Public game and market records may remain as part of the historical archive.
Web and PHP logs are normally kept for about seven days. We may keep security, moderation, transaction, or legal records longer when needed. Activation and recovery links expire after a limited time. Backups and service providers may hold copies for a short period after data leaves the live site.
Your Choices and Rights
You can change many profile, notification, character-visibility, and cookie settings on the site. You can also delete your account from the account page. For access, correction, deletion, or other privacy requests, email us. We may ask you to verify your identity. Some records may need to be kept for security or legal reasons.
Local law may give you other rights, such as getting a copy of your data, objecting to certain uses, withdrawing consent, or opting out of targeted advertising. It may also let you appeal a denied request or complain to a privacy regulator. We will not treat you differently for using a privacy right that applies to you.
Legal Bases for European Users
For users covered by European data-protection law, we rely on the following legal grounds: providing the service you request; our legitimate interests in running, securing, moderating, and improving FFXIAH and maintaining its public game-data archive; consent where required for analytics or advertising; and compliance with the law. You may object to uses based on legitimate interests or withdraw consent. Withdrawing consent does not undo earlier processing.
International Processing
FFXIAH and its providers may handle information in the United States and other countries. Their privacy laws may differ from those where you live. When required, international transfers use contractual or other approved safeguards.
Children's Privacy
FFXIAH is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, please contact us.
Security
We take steps to protect the information we hold, but no website can guarantee perfect security. Use a unique password and tell us if you think someone has accessed your account.
