He'll find some way to say your state is in open rebellion or something of that nature to withhold all federal funding.

You have to think like a cartoon villain, there's no other way to accurately describe trump.

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE PRESIDENT TAKING COMPLETE CONTROL?!?"

Doesn’t fit. I’ve always been a states rights guy. If Trump oversteps his authority, he can and should be shut down just like any other president should.

Are you saying that you have never said that the constitution is great because it keeps the president in control and cannot become a dictator?

Do you not consider him saying that he has power which he does not have to be a step over the mark? If I was you, and believed what you claim to believe, I would be really unhappy that he even said it.

Uhh, what? I’m not even sure where that first paragraph is coming from. Clearly I was referring to the latter statement.

As for your second comment, Trump says things that he shouldn’t. That’s hard to deny. But he also called on practically everything he says and does. I mean, think about it. Who is more likely to become a dictator? Someone that Washington and the media hate, who gets fought tooth and nail on every insignificant thing? Or how about a career politician deep in the establishment who has the media constantly praising him/her and playing cover for every action he/she makes? It’s for that reason that I’m not worried about Trump overstepping his bounds. He will get challenged legally on every last bit of it, and his big mouth is just that.

I don't feel like you answered my question.

If he believes what he said, and we can only assume he does, then do you not think he stepped over the mark which you have on authoritarianism?

It's a yes or no question really.

Your question may be yes or no, but the topic isn’t. I see no point in boiling politics into black and white statements (when reality is a shade of grey) just so that you can have some kind of gotcha moment and then follow it up with an equally meaningless if/then logic train. But if I’m playing along, is Trump more on the authoritarian side than I’d like? Yes, but that’s also true of a vast majority of other U.S. politicians.

Idiot mockingbird "journalists" about to go and sit down again... when they hilariously prepare their ridiculous questions.

After yesterdays callouts, I'm surprised they are there.

After that Trump meltdown? why wouldn't they be there? Every single one of them walked away from that tantrum a winner.

lol. Reporter just asked exactly the question that's going to happen.

If a state doesn't open, will you pull their federal funding.

Now he's going to cease funding the WHO, asking for an investigation because they didn't respond accordingly? Wow, King Trump the Deflector strikes again.

The thing I love about this image is you aren't bashing Trump, you are demonizing half the country as being comic book villains.

Am I the only person thinking what an awesome movie that would make?

Yeah and he proceeded to fully retreat from his epic meltdown yesterday. He isn't going to do anything because he can't do anything. May 1st is not going to happen. Just like 15 days didn't happen, just like Easter didn't happen.

He isn't ceasing funding, it's a suspension. Suspension is temporary.

Honestly I'm fine with that. For anyone to have been fine with the investigation and impeachment of Trump, but not be okay with suspending funding pending an investigation into the WHO's operations and potential ineffectiveness in handling a pandemic I would consider them a hypocrite.

I'm sure there's more to the agenda than WHO's ineptitude, but I for one am fine with this call by Trump.

As for opening the country.......

Trump having the "authority" to force states to do his bidding is a little more tricky. 10th Amendment does give rights to the states and some I've seen feel that Trump may withhold federal funding to those states.

Impoundment is limited by the Impoundment Control Act of 1974 where withholding previously appropriated funds must be approved by both the House and the Senate within 45 days. So, no Trump can't withhold federal funding on his own, and good luck getting the House to side with him.

So, Trump is now left with having to deal with the Governors of each respective state that he has previously been on record as stating they either are nice to Trump's administration or they won't get the aid they need. He's painted himself into a corner and this will be very interesting to see how he gets out of it without giving skin off his *** to do it.

It's hilarious how easily Trump manipulates these people.

It would be hilarious if he was playing the governors and not just trying to cover his own ***.

Recorded COVID 19 cases began popping up Feb 15. Trump didn't declare a nation emergency until March 13. I'm assuming people know what declaring NE does and can save the definition.

Instead of taking any responsibility, like Trump has said other presidents should have, he's desperately trying to shuffle blame because there's only one thing Trump enjoys in life - looking really good to everyone.

Our individual governors aren't without blame, however, some (namely red states) would have mobilized sooner had Trump lead the way, you know, like a leader should.

I'm going to enjoy watching this new shitshow unfold. Good times for sure.
