We don't need vague statements or a stream that is entirely retrospective. We need a clear roadmap going forward, if we are at all.

Most of us are paying an increased sub fee now, a roadmap is the absolute least they can provide.

The absolute least they can do is what they are doing and you will continue to cheer them on for it.

They have done a couple 3~4 hour streams back in 2013. Most of this was the MCs wearing gobbie hats while trying to play Monstrosity without crashing.

Not much hope for tonight, so here's my prediction (I hope all of this is wrong and we are blown away /s):

Most of tonight's stream will probably be nostalgia, and more "behind the scenes developer commentary" while they comb through the entire we were vana'diel website (interviews, artwork, and their history) that they already released, just to show it off to players watching the stream who have not played in awhile... Afterwards, they will go through the "responses they liked best" of our surveys we filled out, most of which will be from Japanese players.

I highly doubt any crazy "surprises" will be announced tonight. Their surprise was probably TVR. I am predicting during the Freshly Picked portion they may show off the Valhalla zone like they did with Omen before it was implemented.

Maybe we will get an insight on the "job adjustments across the board" that we are supposed to get at the same time as the empyrean +2/+3, and perhaps show a piece or two off. I do not see it being added this update, but it may be in June since Freshly Picked tend to cover two months at a time.

Obviously they will be covering the campaigns this month such as the very long return to vanadiel and discount campaigns. The cutoff to fix your SE account to "cancelled" status is May 10th, and this will give players a day or two to figure it out to come back and play for free. Obviously they will be showing off the FFXI AA shirt with UT.

Square Enix announced that a Final Fantasy XI anniversary livestream will be held on May 8, 2022. The Final Fantasy XI livestream is being held to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the MMORPG. It will be over 5 hours long and will feature new information about Final Fantasy XI. Several staff members will appear on the broadcast to talk about their work and share their memories about the development of Final Fantasy XI. The livestream will be held on YouTube. It will begin at 4:45pm JST/12:45 am PDT/3:45 am EDT/9:45am CEST

It isn't empyrean weapon reforging, that's a typo

"Empyrean weapon reforging" is probably a typo and they meant armor - the Japanese translation (at least through google) is closer to "costume" than weapon.

Arby’s showing XI some love for the 20th

Pretty sad that Arbys put more effort into the 20th anniversary chocobo than what the devs did in game.

The effort for the 20th anniversary is coming with the Empy +2/3 related endgame content. Rushing something simply so it hits an anniversary exactly never ends well.
