20th Anniversary Expectations...

It's so easy to fix too, other games have similar systems and they just...created a 2nd version of each faction chat that you're dumped into if the first is full.

remove the 3 person requirement for delve already; this ***is soloable.

Also you're gonna need a real whm cause trust on anything over like level +5 get absolutely demolished.

5 other accounts that are level 50 for ballista during free login! Jeez I can't even picture the work required to be able to get them ready for stuff like that. Too much!

It's not like you get instantly kicked out if your party drops below 3 lol. Use them to enter, break the party, and go.

You could probably get the highest title as long as you were on blu so you controlled the random *** hate with sleeps so your trust dont get destroyed.

Golden week holiday break starts this Friday in Japan so fingers-crossed for a big trove of info tomorrow (28th).

How about they completely remove the Unity chat and change the objective accordingly?

Unity Chat was an attempt to do something. It failed.
How about they delete it and use the resources for something else instead of leaving it there like a dead corpse or something? :-P


And also how bout they change the Unity Bonus system on gear so that you get max bonus as long as your unity is within the first three, instead of first exclusively? Giving people a bit more freedom to choose what they want instead of running after whatever unity is the first that week?

Worse than it was legit to expect, but we could easily imagine this would've been it from the tendency over the last couple of weeks.
At this point we can hope for some juicy info in the anniversary letter, or some special campaign/something, but let's not hold our breaths too much for that.

I think they had other plans but fell behind the schedule by at least 2 months and at that time they took the decision of just delaying some things until the end of the year instead of tryin to rush it, they wouldn't have made it anyway and they knew it by the time they took this decision, probably several months ago.

They never said they were going to do anything for the 20th, they never have for any other anniversary except music/logo. ppl built it up into something themselves.

The new content is from the expansion they are working on.

Wanted to say that you were wrong, since I remembered different things being said in that roadmap post they made on the JP forum last year, but when I went and actually looked it up again, it just said that they had something that was coming "after the 20th" that was "too important to announce in a forum comment". So, yeah, I guess they didn't specifically promise anything.

"Something big". On one hand, I can't imagine why anyone would, in their right mind, say that knowing it's going to hype most readers up. On the other hand, it's too vague. You can't later blame the readers when "something big" is used.

The finale of the VR storyline is the big thing to look forward to, new zone/endgame comes with this. This is a funded expansion to the game.

The 20th is a celebration of continued service, it's not only a point of pride to the developers (because this is pretty much their life's work), a PR opportunity for the game where the press can write stories and they can give interviews but also a point of happiness that the game is still running for the players.

if they low ball the 20th anniversary update despite hyping it for so long i can't help but view it as some sort of social experiment. maybe they want to feel out how deep this stockholm relationship between players and FFXI is rooted.

well the update notes mention "BGM" and "add new title music". they usually only did change the title music with a new expansion didn't they?

My expectations were VERY LOW and I am still disappointed. :(

Yes. SE has stated that the finale of VR will come with a new endgame system.

I will say, I don’t know why I was expecting something when they haven’t even sent the rewards from the Vanabloom pictures submitted in March. :(

I was asking if the finale to VR is the "big thing" we're waiting for. I've seen a lot of guessing and speculation but I was asking if it has been confirmed that it is, in fact, the "big thing".

Maybe they'll announce some new cashgrab for the zealots to defend though.

its quite possible my memory is flawed, but I do often remember big additions recently in content were not included in the monthly update, but usually landed a week or so after the scheduled update as a unique package. Again, quite possible I'm mixing memories here, but I'm not expecting May 10 to be all we see this month.
