Well, I guess this is motivation to finally get off my *** and finish Witcher 3. And by finish I mean complete 40% of what the game offers, because holy ***.

Also, I didn't mean to try to rush people, I just miss my beautiful Gearswap.

Yeah, the big drawback to gearswap is that it makes the base game seem unplayable. I mean sure, I could go back to the old way, but by the time I make all those macros and gearsets...I'd rather do something else.

I can handle the game just fine with Windower macros, though Gearswap is definitely nice.

The bigger loss to me is all the other little things about windower. Even things that SE has implemented on their own...I tend to prefer the Windower versions because, well.

They're better.

It doesn't appear they even release the code for the windower hook, not sure on their reason for that.

There's a number of reasons for that, but a big one is that not everyone who has contributed over the years has consented to open-sourcing it. It isn't theirs to release.

(This is a key factor in why addons all have the BSD license attached.)

Over the years us gamers have proved to be the "better" when it comes to UI enhancing and/or implementation of addons. Diablo2 was a great and iirc our first peek at what the gamers creativity encompasses. It's really too bad we have to use tools like windower instead of the companies implementing these thing themselves.

IMO the onlything that ever made WoW cool was the fact it has a open UI designed for gamers to mod at will. I wish all MMO/RPG allowed UI modding.

Once you experience what gamers create and add to a game as a Addon, it's really hard to enjoy what's considered "Vanilla" anymore. Again we experienced that in mass with Diablo 2, Morrowind:Oblivion etc. The addons made the game what we consider them today. Not many people rave over Vanilla versions of modded games after they have used addons to enhance them.

On a side note: I've been trying to learn lua binding, the popular response was to simply get a gamepad profiler. Wouldn't that also work when GS is down? Of course we're still using XI macro's, but it would be a one button config.

Is using Autoexec just as bad as SE macro'ing? These are all idea's I've pondered in these times when GS dies. Anyone tried either or? Good, bad a good option? What's your opinion of either?

Update for common users: Time to chill, organize inventory, look into your mules stuff and do that particularly annoying quest you have been postponing for months...

Tomorrow we kill ***and steal their things... Oh... Escha nms are so *** in our hands now...

Flare....you misquoted me!

It's "Let's kill things and take their stuff!"

...while I sort of lol at the fact that lack of Gearswap hurts me not at all.

Can farm silt with no GS!

They changed the packet structure. This has wide-ranging implications, but Arcon's figured it out and will have something by tonight likely.

Windower 4 just updated a lot of the files. Getting 1160'd at the moment, so I can't test, but things should be in order I'm assuming.

Resources update.

Yeah, that's actually much more major than I imagine most people think it is. As I recall it, the EQ Emulator project had to stop syncing to the live client at one point because the packet structure kept getting changed, and by the time they'd worked one out, it'd changed again.

I'm very interested in exactly what Squeenix changed, though, and . Adding twelve apparently zeroed bytes is an odd change -- I've no idea if they've done such before, nor how often -- but that also nearly doubles the data sent by the action packet, although, assuming they use UDP, given how unreliable the connection seems to be sometimes, that's only a 30ish percent increase, which again, I don't know the details, but if action packets make up a large portion of the data shuttled back and forth, that's a noticeable increase.

I'm assuming they use UDP, and have not switched to TCP. Although, if they had, which, again, I assume they haven't, those zeros might be padding.

Thanks for all you help on fixes.... Here's another issue I found:

ffxidb crashing when casting trust magic. (don't know if it crashes while casting other magic, etc...)

CRITICAL ERROR: FAILED TO FIND TargetArray
ffxidb encountered a fatal error and must be terminated. Error: Access violation in Render method.
ffxidb - Plugin successfully unloaded

Thanks again for all your help!

Hmm.. the character I have to test with can't cast Trusts yet. I'll do the quest and try it out.

Edit: I did the quest and just cast Excenmille with no problems.

These could be coming up from plugins that aren't updated to the new LuaCore.

With trust magic you using? New trusts? Old ones?

Separate note, I'm getting crashes when I try to cast through the magic menu, but not from a macro. "Playonline viewer has stopped working" I tried with teneberal crush, crash, then I tried aquaveil, crash.

Edit: Without Ffxidb loaded casting a trust just CTD FFXI.

Can confirm casting either trusts or magic from the menu causes a crash. Tried Kupofried, crashed. Tried Kupofried again to confirm it wasn't a fluke, crashed. Tried Memento Mori, crashed. This was in Escha
