Stolen bike
Just got my bike stolen today, wanted to see if there was something I could do to increase chances of finding it
When i saw this thread i didnt notice it was tiger's and thought "someone is gonna make a tiger woods joke,i gotta see this"

I'll look for help elsewhere
wut do you want us to say? find a car or bike to increase the area you can search or call the cops. it's pretty simple. put up some flyers, ask people who live around you. how serious should we be taking this? should we band together as a community and make the flyers for you?
Keep an eye out on craigslist.
It's a bike... the person who stole it will probably store it in their house, and unless you feel like going around checking inside of everyone's windows, you won't find it.
I knew it. You could probably report it and check out local pawn shops and such and see if it turns up.
Report it, check Craigslist, put out flyers.
Pretty much all you can do. Really sucks, on a serious note I hope you find it.. but I can't help but feel there is a certain irony considering everyone makes puns about you stealing bikes lol.
Check pawn shops, craighlist yadda yadda, sucks that you live in an area that people think they need to do that.
Post a picture, i'll keep a look out here in Massachusetts.
Also ask to put a flyer up at where ever it got stolen at. Can have people keep an eye out there for it in case the idiot decides to come back there.
First thing you have to do is make a police report... If you happen to find it in a pawn shop or something and you didn't make the report, they won't give you the bike...
Could make an ad on Craigslist too, and say your bike was stolen, give a vague description of it, and you need it for school and you just want it back, reward of 100 bucks no questions asked. Then when they show up with the bike, make an excuse to get in close to it, like you want to look for identifying marks to make sure it's yours, and jack that ***back. What are they gonna do? Call the cops? lol However, reality of the situation is that ***is probably gone.. Btw, if you're going to try and find it in a pawn shop, you're going to have to actually talk to the people there, file the police report first, but then talk to the people working at the pawn shop and explain the situation and describe the bike. It'll be a month or more (at least that's how they work here in Texas) before it's put out to be sold, they hold it in the back for 30 days just for ***like this. Pretty sure they're legally required to do so in this state. Clicked on thread expecting a Tigerwoods post, sadly not disappointed. Report it, watch Craigslist, check local pawn shops, maybe some flyers, about all you can really do. Hope you find it.
Craigslist seems to be the most likely place to track it down, assuming they stole it in order to resell it.
If you did track it down that way, you could possibly get it back on your own, the way they've done it in Seattle and D.C. (Though I wouldn't recommend it except as a last resort, or if you're really emotionally attached to that particular bike. If the person recognizes you as the owner, it could go bad quick.) If yard sales/garage sales are as common in the summer there as they are here, you may even be able to get lucky and find someone selling an old bike for $10 or something that would get you by until you can find or replace yours with something suitable. Other than that, like others said, flyers and whatnot in the area it was stolen. Good luck! aparently the person that stole your bike needed it more than you did!
Check local Craigslist adds and pawn shops. If someone stole it to sell, they will have it listed pretty soon, and for a low price to get a fast sell. If you see it, call the police, and set up a meeting with the guy saying you are really interested, and would pay a small markup in his posting price to get first dibs on it. Before the meeting, try to get a cop to come with you and stay out of sight. When you meet the guy, and can positively identify it as your bike, signal the police to roll in.
Or if you can't get the police to help, have a friend drive you to meet up with the guy, and take it for a small test ride around the parking lot, to test the brakes and shifting. Once on it, haul *** and don't look back. Police won't probably do ***seeing as I don't have anything to prove it was ever mine. If I find it on craigslist I'm just gonna offer to buy it come in take teh *** and leave and if would offer resistance, then I'll deal with that accordingly
Tiger, message me a description of the bike. i'll keep an eye out on tampa's craigslist.
![]() This is from then ad when I bought it on cragislist, but still the same bike Sylph.Tigerwoods said: » Police won't probably do ***seeing as I don't have anything to prove it was ever mine. They lose money, so they'll do anything they can to keep the bike. If you had already filed a police report with a description matching the bike (make sure to include any specific identifying features/marks on the report) and then found a pawn shop with it, that's really all that's needed. If you go to the shop first, then they can argue that you made the report after you found a bike you wanted but didn't want to pay for. All I can do is echo the advice others gave. I've had a bike stolen too, but at the time, I was too young to know what to do more than complain all day "Who took my bike? D:"
I'm really sorry to hear about that, Tiger. I'm sort of aware of your living situation so I know you really don't deserve anything like that. Last year I had a brand new bike stolen the day after I bought it, right off of some campus bike racks too...
If you want, PM me some PayPal details and I'll see if I can send $50 or so for you to put towards a new one. |
