well, you're going to switch to muscle after blood sugar and before stored fat, you're not going to do extended cardio without at least some muscle loss
but yeah it's generally a necessary evil if you're looking to get bodyfat very low
that said, if muscle isn't his goal, yeah what i said was irrelevant, my bad
