If the new gimp blu is not having HNM spells, well then call me gimp. lol

On another note, I doubt they would do it - buuut. this is SE here. My guess is any new spells would come from Abyssea as well as older game content.

I would love to see us get TP Drainkiss over most spells.

I wouldn't be surprised if we got TP-Drainkiss eventually. I have a feeling they'll be saving some of the cool HNM abilities for when we're nice and high level. There's no reason why a level 80 BLU should be able to use abilities from some of the "most feared"(least claimed :( ) NMs in the game. I'm guessing they'll just be pushing that back until the final level cap update.

As for TP-Drainkiss, it's already obvious that they're pushing BLU to be a more hybrid-ish job that can do things that normally only other jobs could do. Our own Haste, Dual Wield, Double Attack, Refresh, Regen, Cures, Aspirs, Drains, etc. DRK gets Absorb-TP at level 45, why not give BLU the ability to use their own at around twice that level?

And in continuation with the whole HNM thing being a bad idea, I don't think it'd be too unbelievable to think of 3-5, decently geared, level 99 BLUs going into a Nyzul Isle floor 20/40 and being able to clear with little problems.

about the HNM blu spells

square-enix said during the fanfestival interview that blu would indeed learn HNM's spell on high level

so, stupid idea? "maybe" its another debate
but apparently they will make it

Everyone bitching about HNM spells seems to be forgetting there are instances of HNMs that can be found outside worldspawns...

I'm actually hoping that they give us more spell points. we need more than our 40 or 50 that we have. It will give us way more spell usage for us, and it would give us more traits as well, which I believe we need also.

Sinker Drill (Acrolith) - Single target physical damage
Fossilizing Breath (Khimaira) - Like Level 5 Petrify, unlikely to land on many things
Electrocharge (Spheroids) - Like Regurgitation, a useful Thunder-based nuke for BLU
Pyric Bulwark (Hydra) - High physical resistance(phalanx-like) for a very short duration
Cackle (Dvergr) - MAB, MACC, and MDB down to target monster
Asthenic Fog (Yovra) - AoE Drown, like Cold Wave

Could learn all 5 of the Simulcra statue abilities as well:
Seismostomp - AoE Damage and Stun
Lead Breath - Cone Attack Weight
Numbing Glare - Gaze Paralyze
Tormentful Glare - Gaze Curse
Torpid Glare - Gaze Sleep

With the release of the CoP area level cap, I think we'll have access to empty abilities too:
***Quadratic Continuum (Gorget) - 4-hit physical attack***
Murk (Cravers) - AoE Weight and Slow, like Mysterious Light, but with slow effect too
Empty Seed (Memory Receptacle) - AoE Knockback and Damage
Vanity Strike (Seether) - Yet another stun ability for BLU
Winds of Promyvion (Thinkers) - Erase
***Vanity Dive (Wanderers) - Single target damage***
***Auroral Drape (Weepers) - AoE Blind and Silence***

Maybe even some Ultima and Omega spells >.>

3 off the top of my head:

Heat Barrier - Enfire + blaze spikes (wamouracampas)
Crystalline Cocoon - Protect + Shell (4~5 would be nice)(A'erns)
TP drainkiss (need I say more?)

Well, we already got spells from 3 of the 6 Empty-type monsters, so let's think of what we could get from the other 3...

- Winds of Promyvion (Thinker) - Self-Erase. I'd want this because realistically it'd have fewer Set Points and probably have a more reasonable MP-cost and recast time than Exuviation.
- Empty Thrash (Craver) - Single-target damage and Paralyze. We don't have any decent ways of paralyzing enemies. Not without spending tons of MP and/or having to worry about AoE.
- Wanion (Seether) - Inflicts enemies in an AoE with enfeebles on self. This would just be fun to use. And every other move is really generic.

Yeah, I'd really like to see another Blink spell. Maybe not 25 images, since that's way overpowered, but at least a faster casting blink than Zephyr Mantle. I'd really like to see /nin become useless to BLU with the right spell sets, so we can focus on bringing /rdm to nearly everything.

lol Occultation is a really unrealistic thought. I mean, there's a lot that they could change to make it less overpowered. Really though, I'm sure we'd all be happy even if it were just 3 or 4 shadows that acted like Utsusemi (rather than Blink).

Though Mahayaya, I already bring /RDM almost anywhere I go~ Many NM's in Abyssea either spam AoE spells, have attacks that strip or ignore Utsusemi, or are just simply far too dangerous to attack within melee range in the first place. Of course, I almost never solo, so I could see that Utsusemi is still useful outside of the few things that I do.

I'm a taru... and rarely am with people I'm comfortable enough keeping me healed that don't make me come blm or rdm lol.

Seriously I've had plenty of abyssea pts where I did all the healing of myself by myself. While still tanking every mob and DDing like a mad man. Though tbh I can't spend my mp fast enough anymore between recasting utsesmi and some headbutts so /rdm wouldn't help that aweful much.

I'd love to xp with /thf though

Yeah, I try to /rdm as much as possible, it really is nice. Another good blink spell would put a final nail in the coffin for /nin which is what I'm hoping for.

Also, Dasva, you'd be surprised how much help a 350 or more Stoneskin and Zephyr Mantle will help with /rdm. I basically just recast every fight or two fights(talking about abyssea exping), and just spam the hell out of spells. If it starts beating on me hard, I'll toss up an Actinic Burst so I'm never in any big danger.

Meh I've actually yet to run lower than 200 mp on blu in abyssea lol. And that's casting as much as I can.

And so increased DW is slightly useful.

Not to mention the vastly increase survivability since I have hate the vast majority of the time. And the fact that no one I'm with ever seems to get why I do or half the time understand that they don't need to keep healing the pld at 90% hp and instead cure me

And welll zeffy and stoneskin take way too long to cast.

Really if I could get away with not /nin I'd much rather do something to increase my dmg than mp pool. Especially once I get the 10 refresh atma /drool

Dunno how you don't run out of mp, I find myself riding convert at like 2 minutes remaining. Atmas and Battery Charge help keep me somewhat busy until it's back though, and I just end up spamming headbutts.

Meh, not when well over 95% of your damage is coming from spells lol.

I just find subbing /NIN to be so inefficient. The only two useful things it gives you in a group scenario is Dual Wield and Utsusemi. Dual Wield of course being useless with the introduction of two spells that you're likely to have on almost 100% of the time being used in creating the trait, and Utsusemi really only ever being useful against a couple AoE's.

Though I agree with you Dasva that /THF would actually be really dang handy. I've always wanted to use it practically, and I honestly can't wait for the 90main/45sub level when you can finally get Hide out of the job. I've always wanted to plant one of my 2100-damage QC's with a 1600-damage Distortion on a Paladin or Ninja in my party XD

Me, I don't have any good Atmas yet so I'm pretty much bound to Convert to keep my damage going.

Also screw 2100 dmg QCs. I'm hitting 3-4k Vanity dives and Benthic typhoons. And I'm still using meh old str/dex sets and only have +10 to stats from abysitte/cruor buffs. Really need to make straight dex/agi sets for those...

Also yeah refresh atmas make convert kinda useless. Well for blu most the time. I'd love to lower the recast on the spells. Then I wouldn't have to use 4 diffferent dmg spells lol
