There is always cancel to make seigan/hasso go off while casting utsusemi but thats a double edged sword because than next time you need to third eye seigan probally wont be ready.

yeah blackbelt items are pretty easy to get if you spend like 2 days farming gil, laziness is not an excuse

Really though sam/nin isn't about the blink tanking. If you are seriously tanking the utsesmi is just there to hold you off still you can 3rd eye again. Unless your fighting mobs with AOE moves that utsesmi blocks. Then seigan kinda sucks since you end up having to rely on something with messed up recast timers

Yes, farming 3-6 million gil in 2 days is totally achievable.

Classic example of the kind of person that has usually has Black Belt.
1) 75 mage job.
2) Doesn't give a *** about playing monk.
SAM/NIN is a good tank.
MNK/NIN just does everything better.
It's like saying DRG is a better DD than SAM with a polearm. While it definitely is a good DD, SAM is just that much better.
MNK with Counterstance may as well be PLD with Reprisal 100% of the time, since countering lets you get casts off uninterrupted. And with all the readily available counter gear, it's not hard to get that up to something like 80% proc rate.
Seigan is nice too, but it's so unpredictable that it's not something you want to rely on. And even at 25 second recast, it's still rarely up in time for being able to use it again.

And my roommate is 0/30 on Hagun runs, so that's 150days of not making 1.15M in a duo'd Hagun run.

While Dasva saying you can easily get a double hagun drop in one run is one end of the extreme spectrum. You saying that a career monk can't easily farm gil for a blackbelt is the other. It will take anyone less time to farm the gil to buy one even at inflated prices than it would to level monk from 1-75 by far.

Relying on Hagun runs to fund anything in not realistic unfortunatly.
I have been duoing it on MNK with a RDM friend for almost a year now and we have only seen 3 Haguns (one each we kept for our SAMs) and 3 Foragers (same deal kept 2 of them).
Now I realize if we had sold those 4 items, yes that would be plausible to buy the items, but if you want to buy the items in a timly manner, this is not the way to do it.
