'Bout; Slightly Less Worse Each Time

My chars and I were all logged-in overnight day 0 (as they typically are), and none of them registered until the final day when they already had max plaudits. Must've been around 10-11am PST - I'm sure I can check logs if knowing an exact time is important. But yeah, all my chars got the title (even though only 1 has any sort of mastery rank) - and they remained grouped together in the ranking.

So I owe Dab something, obviously, just dunno what makes up for missing the title. :/

Same as Michelob and Enochroot here, I didn't even register on day 0. First time I ever registered my total was several days in. I ended up in the first 10 on the final list. Two characters, and they were indeed right next to each other on the final list in the order I registered their scores.

I did register fairly early on the final day, don't have it logged but it was in the first couple hours after the day reset at 8am PST (I had logged out the previous night with all my items ready to trade for the final day's VBDs, so it didn't take me long). I think that was shortly before Enoch's reported time, and IIRC I was also a little higher on the list than Enoch.

Two of my chars were right next to each other as well but the third ended up much higher on the list (registered that third one maybe 30 minutes after the other two).

I got this;
1) Wait until I mention new objectives being slammed in the DATs (I'm checking monthly for it, if they change it's probably a strong indicator there's an upcoming 'Bout) which I'll post here and on my site.
2) Go farm all of the stuff that can be farmed for those objectives, enough for 2 go arounds of each objective.
3) Send them to Dab.

Conscience cleared until you find out they aren't a fan of you clogging their inbox with a ton of (normally) useless crap. ;D

I checked just by curiosity the other day to see if one day I will even bother with this senseless work. After I saw the whole 100+ at 1400, I will just never bother, period. Just to make the 1st tranche, I would have to call out from work, and I ain’t doing that.This is just ducking stupid from SE the entire thing. Some folks can just never even try, and some cannot succeed base on nothing they did wrong. This is not a NM that you can pop 3x a day, it’s a 3x a year event that take full dedication for 2+ weeks, can’t miss a day, got to be home for those 2 hour the event is on…

Now to the folks from phoenix, just send Dab a Yagudo drink.

They adjusted it so you can miss a day and double up the next day, but you do have to be logged on for day 0.

Rhapsodies of Vana'diel 1 (VB) - Will auto-complete for most, for new players you just completely flag it by accident go to any of the 3 cities in a zone with a Mog House attached to get started, requires completion of up to the end of 1-6, Flames of Prayer. (25 Plaudits)
Here We Go Again (VB) - Beat ★Return to Delkfutt's Tower on any difficulty 1 time. (30 Plaudits)
Mog Garden: Arboreal Grove (VB) - Interact successfully with your Arboreal Grove 9 times. (30 Plaudits)
Recalling Adventures (VB) - Speak to any of the Moogles that tell you your stats during the Adventurer Appreciation Campaign, found at Southern San d'Oria (J-9)/Northern San d'Oria (D-8)/Bastok Mines (H-9)/ Bastok Markets (G-8)/Windurst Waters (F-5)/ Windurst Woods (K-19) 1 time. (30 Plaudits)
The Swarm (VB) - Get at least 1,000 points in The Swarm special battlefield, requires one member of the party to obtain a Pest Repellent from the Login Points moogle, use it as an item, and then you access the battlefield from the Fortilace at (D-9) in Rolanberry Fields (S). Take cleave jobs, BLU can solo this no problem. (25 Plaudits)
Mog Garden: Furrow (VB) - Obtain 9 items total from your furrows. (30 Plaudits)


Daily Objectives

Tiger's Teeth (VBD) - Give Taumila in Southern San d'Oria (F-9) 3 black tiger fang, 1 time. (30 Plaudits)
Domain Invasion (VBD) - Complete Domain Invasion 1 time. Whereisdi is your friend. (20 Plaudits)
High Five (VBD) - Perform synergy 2 times. It doesn't say if it needs to be successful or not, maybe someone can clue me in here if it's been an objective before.

Jingly (VBD) - Play Mandragora Mania 1 time. You don't need to win, but if you do want to win... (20 Plaudits)
Auctioning (VBD) - List a phoenix feather, spool of malboro fiber, vial of black beetle blood, square of damascene cloth, or piece of oxblood on the AH 1 time. It doesn't have to sell, you just have to list it, can unlist it after. Recommend doing this so you can just keep hold of one of the items for each time it comes up during the event. (30 Plaudits)
Campaign Operative (VBD) - Complete campaign ops and earn 1,000 Allied Notes. (20 Plaudits)
Donations (VBD) - Give Gajaad in Al Zahbi (J-6) at least 1 Imperial bronze piece 1 time. (30 Plaudits)
Gobbie Mystery Box (VBD) - Open any dial on the Gobbie Mystery Box 1 time. Sorry new players, your character has to be 45 days old to use the gobbie box so, you'll need to skip this one. (20 Plaudits)
Unity: Wanted (VBD) - Complete any UNM fight 1 time. You must have the objective set for that UNM for it to count, no scumming off someone else's accolades. (20 Plaudits)

I'll once again be keeping Vana'Bout Daily up to date through-out the event once it starts, I'll try my best to post overviews for each set of daily objectives each day here too.


Edit: I'm realising now that only 9 daily objectives is suspiciously low... I'm going to take a second look since last bout had 24 daily objectives.
Edit 2: Checked and triple checked, this is literally all there is right now, either indicates a much shorter Vana'Bout or something else is afoot, we'll see I suppose

Well looks like I'm not even going to bother with vanabout this time. Was really hoping they'd slap a relic +3 voucher in there.

I don't need any of this stuff.

So - 170 points for the period objectives, leaving 330 needed for Limit tier. Averaging 50 points a day for two dailies, means you can skip 7~ objectives across the 10 days and hit Limit? Also what you need to do to get the title now, no need to hit absolute max any more.

Seems better to me generally.

Superfluous stuff? I would take the old base tier (Abyssea trophies kupon) over Ambuscade mats every day of the week. And in the past, they had 100 deeds in the middle tier - Id much rather have that than a pulse

Also like... they didn't even give us a choice of rewards until the top tier? I mean, I'm clearly not the target, I'm just going to get nothing at all because I won't engage because I don't need that specific stuff. But it's fun to do VB stuff (or at least I personally enjoy it, ymmv obviously) so it's kind of sad I won't be bothering!

I picked the 100 deeds every time. Thats 2 1/2 months closer to another free PW pop.

I figured they kept it low cause it'd interfere with all the campaigns going on in the same time frame, still could have done a bit more with the rewards

Anecdotally, new players - whether long-absent returners or FF14 incomers or the rare and elusive actual new blood - are stoked for a pulse they don't have to wait IRL months for / grind content and buy cells for / get incredibly lucky for.

It's not for you and me, but it's definitely for the target market here.

The target audience is definitely newbs. Arguably the deeds prize is the exact same prize as a pulse-kupon, for those newbs though.

But this way they get 1 immediately and another 1 in a couple months.

Hello, me again, local Vana'Bout fanatic(?), just wanted to mention some changes to my site, which now has a domain because why not, I was getting tired of typing the long URL, which is vanabout.ing. The old URL will still work as a redirect for now so if you're stubborn and really don't want to use the new domain, go for it.

Otherwise, I needed to add a login for some backend stuff so you can login to the site with discord now, if you wish. I added some extra stuff for those that do want to use it, such as the site keeping track of your earned plaudits as you mark objectives completed, and allowing you to select which rewards you picked on the rewards page (entirely redundant this round but hey...), which then shows in the tooltip to others. Hoping people will maybe use this and it'll help highlight to newbies which rewards they should be picking. It'll also keep track of objectives you've marked completed across devices but I doubt anyone else is obsessively checking a single-purpose guide website as much as I do, just to stare longingly at my creation.

If you don't wanna use the discord login? That's fine too, the site will keep functioning perfectly fine for you as it did before.

Otherwise, the site will be there lurking, awaiting your visit, should you absolutely must know what two objectives the game plopped out each day but you're busy having a life or something, idk, I definitely don't have one since I told myself I was done adding to this project and theeennnn no I wasn't. :D
