Purposely blocking someone's right to a fair trial....

You honestly think it'd be a fair trial? Republicans want no witnesses and are working together with the white house for their defense. They already claim Trump is innocent before it even started.

My rebuttal:

I actually watched part of the thing yesterday.

It was a lot of grandstanding and hot dogging. I thought Macho Man Randy Savage was going to appear with a box of Slim Jims.

And say "Step into an impeachment" !

It will be interesting to see what actually happens, one thing we have always known is the Republicans aren't going to be able to call witnesses while shutting the Dems out. That has been an outright lie from the start, we won't be hearing from Hunter Biden but not Mick Mulvaney. The Senate trial has never worked that way, and despite all the wrong things McConnell has been claiming, he really does have to come to an agreement with Schumer, or somehow convince 51 Republicans to go along with his scheme, which doesn't seem likely if witnesses are going to be involved.

A nice piece from Victor Hansen:

When Hate Becomes an Agenda
Trump so infuriated his opponents that, rather than find arguments to convince a majority of Americans that the president’s policies were flawed, his enemies instead sought to destroy him.

(officially the most "yea" votes in an impeachment or a president)

This is an incredibly misleading statement. The House has grown in membership over time, so the "yea" count is completely meaningless when trying to draw comparisons. Andrew Johnson had over 70% of the House voting in favor of articles of impeachment and barely escaped Senate conviction.

Nixon resigned before his vote, and Trump and Clinton ended up with nearly the same result percentage wise.

In the American justice system, "innocent" is the default state. Trump is innocent unless someone can prove him guilty. That hasn't happened, so the innocence claim is 100% justified.

You are right, I should clarify, they already judged him not guilty before the trial started.

Do you even realize the irony in your statement? The Democrats decided to impeach him in 2016.

Now stop interfering in our election you foreign agent.

Um, no. Ask any lawyer and they will tell you that not talking is not only your right, but it's the best strategy for an individual who is innocent of the crime of which they are accused.

People aren't machines. They misspeak, misremember, and rarely know the law. You don't have to divulge squat until they force you to with your attorney present.

Nancy Pelosi should just sit on the articles of impeachment until October of next year. Let undecided/swing voters ponder their comfort level with casting a vote for a president who is mid-impeachment trial. After the Merrick Garland farce the gloves are off.

If that's the way you want to look at it, then every time you misspeak or misremember I'll make sure to call you a liar. For example, you didn't really a typing problem earlier, you legitimately thought the President was named Trumo and then lied to cover it up.

What, you've never heard of a written statement before?

In the meantime, I'm amazed with this perfect specimen before me who has a perfect memory and never accidentally says what he does not mean. I hope you never get falsely accused of a crime, but I'm sure you wouldn't hire a lawyer and would tell your whole life story to the police while under interrogation because you "have nothing to hide".

that may just hurt everyone who's running for re-election even more because it would hold up many members of congress who would be campaigning during that important time frame
