In hindsight of all this and being banned, if you knew of an exploit now, what would you do?
Get it sorted again or burn the economy to the ground?

Weak people look for poor excuses. Edit, the economy did get hit pretty hard though. I actually could tell from the few times I sold medals back in august when I stopped selling them. That's the reason I stopped making them. used the gil to help bring stuff to lakshmi to populate some gear on that server. Nekseus said: » No way jet. I wasn't pointing at anyone; it was just a general statement. :) I've been around since 2004, so I know what you mean. DirectX said: » I remember when the economy was ruined then but it got fixed. The difference between then and now is there was stuff being added to the population. Tbh between crafting, and mercing that was the only thing keeping a constant change on the market to begin with. Unless SE was going to come out and add new stuff to the game, the market was pretty stale and it likely would have continually dropped; slowly, but surely. Bahamut.Justthetip

Nekseus said: » Its not windowers fault Elidyr accidently figured out a bug with the item indexes. Just cause windower defined the fields doesnt make SE's garbage code any of their fault. You all use windower and if not you use ashita. get off your high horses. There's absolutely no way any major game developer would let you map their entire packet structure publicly. You would definitely be met with a C&D. You are very delusional if you don't believe that. spengler said: » Nekseus said: » Its not windowers fault Elidyr accidently figured out a bug with the item indexes. Link any major game developer that has their entire packet structure mapped and publicly available.
I can tell after a few posts in this place that only a special breed of people post here, so after 40k I assume your mind is mush and you don't even know what you're saying. spengler said: » There's absolutely no way any major game developer would let you map their entire packet structure publicly. spengler said: » Link any major game developer that has their entire packet structure mapped and publicly available. Just to be clear, are you asking if THEY themself map it publicly, or players map it publicly. Im starting to lose track of the actual question. Offline

SE is a major game developer, are you challenged? I know exactly what I'm saying, but cute trick trying to use post count against somebody. That's *** adorable. Offline

I'm not sure if you're HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE or just totally misunderstanding my point. I'm very well aware that the windower team has done so with FFXI. I am saying that no other game developer would allow that to happen. If you didn't know I was arguing that what did you think I was arguing? Good lord lmao Bahamut.Justthetip

Keep trying to act like your kicking and screaming about being wrong is just you being the mature one.

I don't think SE would send a C&D to themselves... As stated several times now, FFXI very clearly has the entire packet structure mapped by the windower team. No other game developer would allow you to do this, they would send you a C&D. It allows idiots like Eli to find the exploit he found. SE has taken a hands off approach, I believe security by obscurity was how it was worded best. If SE had been in contact with the Windower/Ashita team at all I can assure you they would have told them that 90% of their addons should not be allowed and the packet structure should not be public. No we dont have the whole thing mapped. Also ftr ashita doesnt do much messing with packets. They focus on memory. I still think it's funny that they think SE sending a C&D means to anyone means that they have to comply. It's amusing.

Now you're arguing semantics after realizing what I said and that your counters to it are idiotic and unfounded. Link any other game developer that has allowed even 10% of their packet structure to be mapped or sit the *** down.
I have no idea who you are, you wrote a couple addons maybe? I'm guessing you don't have windower source. You should not be saying "We". |
