Traded Alicorn multiple trades worth of 10~50 fireworks at a time for a total of 400.
I didn't have anything on me or in my inventory at the time. It gave me "Kagami Mochi", then the Mount. Added the mount, then went back and got "Galette des rois", but didn't seem like it was giving out more.
Went to Ixion and likewise traded for about a total of 200 and got the FES Key.

I traded popstars one at a time to the Gleeful Alicorn and got mount on the 17th trade on my main and on the 25th on my alt.
Yeah I started out trading batches of items but eventually switched to 1 at a time, even worthless stuff, and didn't see much of a difference. Random ***is random. Mog garden trash is perfect for this.
Recently took someone through Mul, so had a bunch of Meteor scrolls around. Those "high ticket" items always got *something* but never got the FES key or Alicorn. Those I got with single trades of things like shall shells, colibri beaks, pickaxes, whatever I had around.

Additional trading in the same manner to the Ixion today gave me the "Cait Sith Carving" before I got the FES Key.
I could only get the mount from the "Alicorn".
Ixion would not give me anything (even with over 400 traded items) after the first uhm... 25ish trades.
Did Ixion in North Gustaberg and Alicorn in South Gustaberg.
No clue if zone matters, probably not.

I bought 60 Sandorian carrots this morning, got 4 Alicorn mounts for the 4 characters I have jobs leveled on, ended up sending about a stack and a half back to the NPC when I was finished.

Looks that way.
Kept all the other items on my chars (food, furnishings, new year gifts) and got a key within 5 trades.
As far as I can tell, the Ixion in North Gustaberg gave me FES key on all of my characters and mules first try with San d'Orian Carrot. Alicorn takes more trades but grants the mount.

Carrots indeed. Been going 1/1 on Sandy Carrots with Ixion. Scared up a Vomp Carrot on an alt and went 1/1 with that too. Beats spamming random mog garden junk.

It's not listed in the 2026 guide, but you can do the "New Year Mini-Quest" for the Hoary Spire. I'm not sure if this is available every year or not. It's only mentioned in the 2013 guide.

Head: Clemency somen > QA+4% Enmity-8
Body: Clemency haramaki > QA+6% Enmity-10
Hands: Clemency Kote > QA+5% Enmity-9
Legs: Clemency haidate > QA+4% Enmity-8

That's the order they were listed in the DATs, but it'd make more sense for head/legs to be 5% and hands/feet to be 4%. Does the NPC offer any way to verify short of making and augmenting the gear?
Yeah I always had the feeling it was the same for the RDM/RUN set to have Phalanx+6 on body, Phalanx+5 on Legs and Head, and Phalanx+4 on Hands and Feet, rather than the way you posted Thorny.

I mean, there isn't any reason the dats have to be in head-body-hands-legs-feet order; it's just how SE typically stores them and the bodies all lined up with it. Higher stats on legs/head than hands/feet is also how SE typically does things. I'm sure we'll know for sure soon, though.
