On the off chance that someone cares, after 1000 Popstars / Wind Crystals traded to the Summoner NPCs following Leviathan around for the New Year's event - there does not appear to be a cosmetic item this year. I have received all of the other expected rewards multiple times (furnishings, etc).
Just in case it was going to be the Macana again, I dropped my one from last year (since you can buy it from vendors this year) and I have not received one of those either. I got the Macana last year in around 200 trades. Random is random, but... Hopefully sometimes during this year they will also start with jobs adjustments though Ah yea, that would make more sense than entirely new spells/attachments. Offline

Looking forward to hearing about the lua that breaks the new system so you can exploit the elemental capacities and blue point caps (especially if it works /blu similar to salvage exploit days) Chimerawizard said: » Quote: Many people play the game solo for various reasons, including instances when it is difficult to form parties, or simply because they prefer to experience the game on their own. Regarding the "blue magic" thing, the relevant Japanese text is here:
また、調査や検証を重ねていく必要はあるものの、優先していく案件として、『オートマトンのアタッチメント』や『青魔法のセットの記憶』などを計画に追加しています The bolded part specifically pertains to Blue Magic and it lit. translates to "blue magic set memory," or as someone else suggested, the ability to basically save your set spells. This can not be read either way as "new spells" or "saving spell sets." It is the latter. This of course doesn't preclude them from adding new spells or adjusting how blue magic works, but this blurb is specifically about saving spell sets. The Automaton attachment portion is more interesting imo since it doesn't specify what they're talking about. They use a particle in Japanese that is used to list things, so it could have been a formatting issue and they meant to type something to the effect of "we want to make savable sets for automaton attachments and blue magic." But SE is pretty good with their JP (as expected!), so I doubt that. They're just going to...do something with automaton attachments. Please look forward to it, Player-kun. This is personal speculation about "making it easier to obtain upgraded equipment," but I wonder if they mean RoE objectives or new Deed Vouchers for +2 versions of reforged AF/Relic/Empy? (shrug) It needs to mean you no longer need to meet Monisette and Sagheera, aka don't need to do cop to reforge.
It also needs to mean you can get all the sets of af/relic from deeds. It will mean neither, of course. Offline

Phoenix.Iocus said: » Felgarr said: » Totally agree. More Pet->Master buffs BUT may be one day we could apply them to the party too? That would be cool. (It does kind of imitate or encroach on BLU's Diffusion, but not the same comparison on my opinion). Mighty Guard doesn't occupy the same buff location as pet buffs. There is no encroachment. Everything that you bring a BST for can be done by a BLU already except KI. The with exception of the leech, BLU is significantly better at all of it. All while possibly tanking and not having to manage extra pet actions. Right, yes, I agree with the last part. You kind of reduced my statement with a single buff and there's many to be considered. However, when I said "imitate or encroach", I meant that one could argue that applying pet buffs from master to the party is too similar to what BLU can do with Diffusion, at least in theory. You're preaching to the choir man. No one wants BST to become more complete and whole again, more than I do. (I remember the BST pre-MPK patch in 2005, it truly was the glory days of 5-6 man BST-only parties. It was an incredibly exceptional play-style that was virtually limitless/endless). Tbf, im pretty optimistic about the improvements SE want to make to player matching for content.
Because obviously those nerds are unable to socialize by themselves thus game has so many silos and many people with same interest but that never try to talk to each other. So, i see this could be potentially game changer for FFXI if implemented right, imo. It would be a major improvement if i want to do something and just need to hit a button to get started. Obviously there are lots of challenge: it will require the bare minimum engagement so the feature doesnt become a unity chat. Unity chat had great intention, but the end product is horrible. I barely see any meaningful conversation there, and always the same gibberish for vouchers. So, the risk of fluking is high, but i also think the opportunity to score is also high. Chimerawizard said: » Phoenix.Iocus said: » Lol wardrobes 3+ are for paying customers regardless of the month Someone who never added wardrobe 'services' wouldn't receive them, same as additional 1$ mules. This concern seems to come up every single Free Campaign. Someone probably should have brought up this 7 or so years ago. xD Anyways, Free Login is not for YOU to enjoy the game for free for the duration and then disappear. It's for you to come back and play and re-subscribe either during or after the campaign ends. It's just marketing. As I mentioned in my original post, the free campaign rules do not say wardrobes won't be activated. Which isn't unexpected, but the problem is most players who quit/take a break put their gear in those slots. It would be nice if people could take gear OUT of them but just not use them. The fact that they are disabled means anyone who didn't plan to remove everything they needed if they took a break and thought about potentially returning later will have every item locked unless they resub. And no, you cannot reactivate ONLY the wardrobes; they MUST be activated with an accompanying service. So even though you're playing the game for free, your content ID is disabled on the SQENIX Account Management Website, so you can't enable wardrobes either. This means that the only way to get access to your gear during free login is to resubscribe, which invalidates your free login. It's genius marketing from a business standpoint, but apparently it still bothers players that it's implemented in the least enjoyable experience for returnees, especially after all these years. Lakshmi.Byrth said: » A better tortured car analogy would be if you went to a used car lot that you have bought a lot of cars from previously and they told you to take any car you wanted out on a test drive for free but neglected to fill any of them with gas. Even that is a bad analogy because providing the FFXI service to additional players costs SE almost nothing and there is virtually no risk. Free login campaigns are a marketing ploy designed to re-hook old players and this one is not making me want to come back because they flubbed the execution. The worst part is that they flubbed the execution in a way that preferentially affects their highest value returning customers. It's classic SE ineptitude, which almost nostalgic for me. We have people check in to see what's good in our LSs. If they want to think about coming back and see who's about, it's perfect.
If you want to start playing FFXI brand new, you don't need wardrobes. To go back to the discussions from a few days ago, people are overthinking SMN, i suspect in no small part to not wanting another AF/AC zerg OP situaiton.
The issue with SMN is its just too damn slow and cumbersome to use our kit. This makes even soloing a chore. on average it takes two executions (summon avatar & select BP) for a SMN to do something that would take 1 click for another job to do. Waiting for the pet to summon on top of that just doesnt' fit the game as it is. Some of my thoughts - Give Elementals Trusts AI & spells as suggested; reduce timers significantly for casting (light elementral being able to protect/shellra 5 would be huge) - Reduce avatar summon timers to instant; - A+ SMN skill and effectively and other fixes to reduce BP timers down to around 3-5 seconds - Go back to scale up/rework 75 level avatar buffs. For example increase potency and Remove conditionals like moonphase debuffs/buffs for fenrir; - Buff /rework avatar favour buffs. One solution is to double up some of their effects adding a stat or job trait component as well. That won't make SMN OP or knock some other job off strict job role event, but it will make it more desirable as a niche job and certainly a better low man/solo job for the content in game. That should be the goal of job fixes, instead of always looking at it through the lense of a 6 person group. Having to deal with re-summoning all the different avatars to put up their buffs really takes away from Avatar's Favor. Precisely why I suggested it work as an activated buff that only wears after time or after its reactivated with a different avatar out. Essentially it would just function like a COR roll. It's not a complex solution lol.

SMN's should be able to use BP's without having a pet out and it'll just insta summon, use and desummon, like how Atomos works. Completely remove Ward/Rage times from the game, each BP has it's own recast just like spells do. This way SMN's can dynamically deploy their kit as needed. Now if a SMN wants to, they can summon a pet intentionally. It comes out and will get released if you use an ability from a different summon, but can have it's favor activated. And I really believe those favors should be much stronger and appropriate. Ifrit should have a 40~50% attack boost minimum, Garduda or Siren should have +Magic Haste of similar amounts. Titan gets +Defense, Leviathan gets +MDB, that kind of stuff and it needs to be at least as strong as Dunna GEO. Then have one of the SMN REMAs make it as strong as Idris GEO buffs. Those could, in theory at least, make SMN far more useful. |
