His non-committal combined with his previous favors for team blue painted him as a loyal member of that team, meaning he would be a potential weak point team blue would use to attack President Trump. For those reasons he was removed from the playing field. He doesn't like it but his slight favoritism towards the previous administration, which is completely understandable, made this outcome inevitable. Welcome to politics people. What makes this funny is that while Trump understands the game, he doesn't play by any of the rules and this causes chaos for those who do. I accept this possibility. I also accept the possibility that Trump outed him for other reasons. We don't have enough info to prove anything though. We need to remember that Comey served under Bush as well. I feel bad for Tillerson today, he calls on Saudi and Co. to ease their blockade against Qatar, then two hours later Trump chops his legs off and throws Qatar under the bus.

Trump does that a lot.

Which, while a brave move, is really, honestly, completely stupid of him to do it. But hey, it gets him back in the news cycle for another 6 months. So, go Trump? Asura.Kingnobody said: » Which, while a brave move, is really, honestly, completely stupid of him to do it Only stupid if he is planning on lieing. It's a confidence play to the public, he's essentially daring the Dems to either call him on it or shut up about it. Right now playing a lawyers game is a losing strategy, it's what politicians typically do when they want to hide ***. It would protect him legally but lower his popularity and send the message to his supporters that "he's just another politician". Remember who the true audience is here. Offline

Also you guys need to consider that if what Trump said to Comey was no big deal why is his lawyer saying he didn't? And why is he willing to go under oath to testify that he didn't?
Even they understand the issues present if Comey's testimony was real. By testifying under oath, during the time he is testifying him, they are essentially investigating him on matters. And remember, it's not like he is going to answer only one series of questions. While under oath, he has to take questions from every member of the committee, and the 3 senators who are looking to do the most damage would word their questions in a way that indicts him while asking him if he should be indicted. /itsatrap.gif eliroo said: » Also you guys need to consider that if what Trump said to Comey was no big deal why is his lawyer saying he didn't? He'll probably end up showing the panel a map of his electoral win.
How can you prove call me wasn't timid dated? After all you weren't inside his head.

Nausi said: » Siri has failed me. that should have said was how can you prove Comey was intimidated? I believe he said something along the lines that he was. But proving how he felt in this situation doesn't matter, rather proving the intent of Trump in that situation is what matters. As we have seen in the case of Hillary Clinton - proving intent is a ***. eliroo said: » I believe he said something along the lines that he was. Like he didn't lie when he lied. He wasn't willfully lying when he stated that he didn't read the memo that he read. Or materially misleading when he was covering his own *** in why he never brought up this issue with anyone else during sworn testimony. Offline

I don't get the argument. If you want to prove that Trump committed Obstruction of Justice you need to prove his intent, not how Comey felt. Are you trying to trap me?

Either they take him up on the offer and attempt to do what every single person has failed to do, or do they stay silent and have him able to use it against them later. Remember just because they ask questions doesn't mean he has to answer them, he can say whatever he wants in response, challenge them and otherwise such a public situation to his advantage. Offline

That could work for him Saevel, but keep mind he would be under oath and his ability to speak impromptu is pretty bad. He has said plenty of misleading statements. It just takes one provable lie under oath and he is done.
I agree with KN that it is a bad idea and is more so an ego power play. He is falling into a liberal trap. If he wants to undo himself though, then that is all on him. I'm sure the republican party will cut ties with him just as fast as they tied them together. eliroo said: » I don't get the argument. eliroo said: » If you want to prove that Trump committed Obstruction of Justice you need to prove his intent, not how Comey felt. If you manage to solve this puzzle, make sure you pass that on to Cooper, Bee, and all of the other pundits out there who have the severe case of TDS. Offline

Not to mention the fact that it is far easier to prove whether or not Comey knew about the memo that he was supposedly not aware of than it is to prove something as vague as intent when the key eyewitness can't even do it.... But somehow the claim against Trump is more valid??? Offline

So, please don't blame any of us when we don't take Pleebo's word for it. Obviously he is under the delusion of a different reality than our own. Thus, a reality denier. eliroo said: » Bahamut.Ravael said: » Not to mention the fact that it is far easier to prove whether or not Comey knew about the memo that he was supposedly not aware of than it is to prove something as vague as intent when the key eyewitness can't even do it.... Comey is now a very minor character in this whole charade. His role is meaningless and, unless he becomes a pest about the whole mess, it's just not politically feasible to charge him with anything. |
