It's shitty to place that burden on smaller countries that didn't do much to cause the problem but may be adversely affected by it like island countries. This isn't some scheme. Stop being so fearful. US gives $1 billion to this fund. Fund now has $1 billion. Fund gives $1 billion to China for "climate development." China now has $1 billion, Fund at $0. So, tell me again how this isn't a wealth distribution scheme. Cerberus.Pleebo said: » Asura.Kingnobody said: » And the US is disproportionately contributing to the solution. Sure, the US disproportionately (if you want to term it based on population, square miles, or whatever) contributed to the problem, but guess what? The US also disproportionately contributed to the solution to said problem. The US is already solving it's own problem so why should the US also pay other countries to solve their problems? Pulling your head out of the dirt and reading a bit would help you quite a bit :Here is what the money is being spent on We aren't just giving money to other countries. The money is being used in an aim to help reduce our impact on the climate. Furthermore, the US doesn't have to pledge ANY money to be apart of the agreement, and this is where you continue to display a willful ignorance. If you want to discuss how much money we should and shouldn't give to the fund then that is an entirely different argument than actually actively participating in the agreement. eliroo said: » Asura.Kingnobody said: » So, tell me again how this isn't a wealth distribution scheme. Let's top it off: The US has already given, meaning already released to this fund, $1 billion. The US has received zero, that is, a big fat goose egg, from this fund. Therefor, wealth distribution. This is a Robin Hood scheme, and some of these projects, the respective (aka receiving) countries could/should have financed themselves, such as Mexico's pet project. Cerberus.Pleebo said: » ... You helped lead a revolution in human innovation, increasing the quality of life for mankind around the world. YOU WILL PAY FOR YOUR SINS AGAINST THE CLIMATE GODS, INFIDELS! If there's one scene in Scary Movie 3 that makes it worth it, it's always this one:

Cerberus.Pleebo said: » Why do you think China gets money from the fund. It's to fund projects in smaller and/or less developed nations. China is neither. Or Egypt. Or Argentina. Or South Africa. Or Chili. Or Vietnam. Or El Salvador. You know, countries who could have/should have funded their own pet projects. Cerberus.Pleebo said: » US emissions don't stay in the US nor does the greenhouse effect associated with them. It's a global problem and it's not solvable by retreating into hermit status. Or are you saying that the US isn't doing anything or is contributing towards this problem at all, or not enough? When is enough? Is it when there is no CO2 in the atmosphere, or is it when the US is considered a 3rd world country? Dramatic, much?
Besides, I see that the concept of an example escapes Pleebo....again.
But why should any of us be surprised? Sylph.Cherche said: » Dramatic, much? Don't demand that I pay for it. China most definitely gets the lions share of that fund, it's the entire reason they entered into the "accords". They do nothing but give token words and make the Europeans look good, the Europeans get the win they need to allow President Obama to enter (without Congress's approval) the agreement and look like he's accomplishing something. Everyone gets something, except the US tax payer but nobody cares about those guys so *** em.
Then those tax payers, in response to nobody giving a *** about them, elected President Trump. You want to bomb the ***out of the middle east and send our soldiers off to die for no reason? Do it on your own dime.

You know, those countries that can't seem to stop being dependent on the rest of the world, and yet, continues to allow drug lords/pirate leaders/dictators rule over them. Sylph.Cherche said: » You want to bomb the ***out of the middle east and send our soldiers off to die for no reason? Do it on your own dime. That's...not a good counterargument. Well, assuming you actually pay income taxes.
Anyone can go to the Green Climate Fund's page and see where money has gone. China is not a recipient. It also shows what each project is and the estimated carbon offset. These aren't "pet projects".
