Okay, so national parks would become state parks? Assuming the states are willing and able to take care of them, I don't see the problem.

Also, the Huff Post is buzzing about the fact that Donald Trump wants to break up the big banks, apparently.

It looks like Trump torpedoed Fox news' coverage of the Benghazi speeches by calling in and doing a live phone interview while they were on stage speaking...so no one watching Fox got to see those speakers, they got to listen to the Trump interview. Then they cut to commercial while the mom was still up there. Good luck figuring that one out.

This is why we need Trump all I hear are talking heads on CNN.

Too bad there aren't any gifs of Hillary laying the smackdown on anyone. Nobody recorded on video the time she hit a Secret Service member in the head with a Bible.

Something tells me that laying the beatdown on Vince McMahon would be better received than documented abuse of people sworn to protect you. If anyone has video of her beating the crap out of Bill, on the other hand....

National parks, forests, wildernesses, and recreation lands all become state lands and the states may deal with them as they wish. Read sell them to the highest bidder.

I don't know how other states are, but in Utah the state parks are better managed than the national ones, and the state wants control so that they can be better protected. About 2/3 of Utah land is actually federal land, and there's no good reason for it. Also, if you want me to read a link, make sure it's not Wonkette. I'd prefer something I can read while jumping from a speeding bus, as it'd be less painful.

Most states out West don't want to pay for the upkeep, they will talk a big game about wanting the land back or giving the land to the ranchers who are also incapable of taking care of it (as the crazy Bundy's proved), but in the end so much land is federally owned out there because no one wants to pay to maintain it.
Utah might have a few well-maintained parks but if you were to double their responsibility the state Congress certainly would balk at doubling the budget for upkeep, much less buying the land back. The current funds would just be stretched out more and it would take no time at all for all of the parks to be underfunded.

Paying for the upkeep of a desert? Are you joking or just don't know what you are talking about? Even desert has value and can be used in conservative efforts to make the states more money. Not cost them.

I think some people are confusing government agencies and their objectives.

The Bureau of Land Management, with immense holdings in the arid west as well as a large section of western Oregon, is part if the Department of the Interior. The BLM holds very little land east of the Rocky Mountains. Its initial purpose was disposal (sale and settlement) of the public domain. Today it operates mostly to encourage the use of its land by agriculture, mostly for livestock grazing, logging, mining, and (a distinctly last place activity) recreation. Although conservation is part of its mandate, it is usually not concerned with preservation.

The Forest Service is part of the Department of Agriculture, and most of its holdings are designated National Forests. They include lands in many of the states, including states east of the Rockies. Some of the land in the East has been acquired through purchase or retro-cession from states or private individuals and firms. Forest management and conservation is the it;s primary goal.

State parks, forests, land, normally overseen by the DNR are most generally used for recreation, hunting, and conservation efforts.

The BLM, before it was consolidated used to care about the land. Now corruption and money have taken hold and it has outlived its usefulness. It needs to be dismantled and one or all of these other options put into place in its stead.
