~First and Final Line of Defense v2.0~
Shits on it is a bit of an overstatement, don't you think? Are there any fights in the game that's just impossible for a pld? Rune definitely makes fights easier, but I can't think of anything that just can't be done with a paladin. The HQ2: Knight's Beads +2 on BG FFXI Wiki claim the neck at max ends up being:
Path A HP +60 VIT & MND +20 Damage Taken -7% ----------------------------------------- I capped out the Knight's Beads +2 and I only have VIT +15 and MND +15. Is BG FFXI Wiki wrong or is the label on the item incorrect? Take them off and see if you lose 15 or 20 VIT/MND. If you lose 15, Wiki is wrong, if you lose 20, the label is wrong.

But run has foil and can cap its haste with hasso/last resort for damage. And buffs/debuffs. And parry > block. Pld still more iconic though. Offline

Just toying around with pld. It feels that it can do more damage chant spamming at 1k vs savage at 1750 just because the chants are seeming to average a little higher with frequency considered than savage does.

How up to date is the gear selection for this guide? Recently came back, and my friend asked if i wanted to pick up tanking again since i usually ran RDM & PLD.
if theres any additions to the optimal sets on this guide, please let me know, since im going to use this as my shopping list <_> It's not updated... I've been doing some theorycrafting offline while working with a few others in my LS for input.
High level requirements: Souveran Gear Uninterruptable set (102%... some reports have said 101 is passable) Phalanx Set (Alluvion Skirmish and lots of augmenting) Aim to keep 51% PDT. MDT only needs to be 25% with Shell, and you'll hit that from general DT. Then you want Fast Cast in your precast, while also balancing out max HP so you don't rubber band your max HP. Midcast you'll want Emnity, uninterruptable, while also concentrating on HP. Aspirational: Odin Body, AF+3 Body. Then there's a lot of nitpicking min/maxing Cerberus.Hideka

And how much Emnity you are giving up to get those cure potency results! Mathematically, the two are the same. Increasing 10% more cures is the same as getting 10% more enmity from the cures. However, the subjectivity comes into the realization of the benefits. The Cure potency is ONLY worthwhile if the amount of HP loss for all targets is greater than your base curing amount. So if you cure for 1000, and they only lost 800 HP, that cure potency is going to waste. However, the Enmity will never go to waste. So, I like cure potency, but not at the expense of Enmity... If the trade off were 1:1, I'd go enmity hands down. For an example, if we look at earrings. Medicant's versus Cryptic? I'd still probably lean towards Cryptic, but use Medicants in for precast purposes for the other stats. Nurishing versus Cryptic? That's a much better debate, but I'd need to evaluate other factors like potential HP loss in midcast, which would probably guide my hand towards Cryptic. Looking for Refresh options from gear without being Dark Matter. Thanks!

hey guys, just come back game from a long break, I would like to farm some omen cards with my brd mule, would you recommend using GS or sword+shield combo for bosses? I have Excalibur & Caladbolg at R15 b4 break. thanks in advance!

PLD is a meh card farming job IMO. You prob have DRK since you have r15 Cala, use that instead. Offline

yes, need pld cards and I want to do the boss to try some omen body lucks lol, not in a rush to get all cards, but something to do whenever I have time to play, so Cala for pld+brd duo then?

Cala PLD is really overlooked for farming cards. Just throw on full TP gear, go /Sam and fight as if you are DRK. Should farm cards relatively easy.
