the 10% II is irrelevant, since it's being compared to chatoyant's weather term and losing.. chatoyant still has 10% I so really you're only getting an extra 10% I to work with.. and you can't add very much with that

it's pretty clear cut, chatoyant is better for whm, other jobs may benefit but they also don't have the luxury of nearly free cures to rely on

I'm not talking about weather sets, I should have been clear, but I meant for no-weather situations.

Some people have different play styles and there are situations when some people would rather not sub Scholar. That doesn't make them wrong.

lol I use my whm mule to heal me when I solo Leviathan VD. I have her /blm for speed since the fight is over too quickly for MP pool to matter. little things like that. though I agree, for everything else /sch is key. but that doesn't mean you shouldn't have sets for no-storm cures

You probably shouldn't be spending 5m on a piece that has ideal use conditions in HTBF, that's for sure

htbf would be the ideal use condition for my whm mule. I'd get more use out of it on rdm and geo, but seeing as this is the WHM thread I thought i'd keep it related.

Figured this is best place to ask this, I am putting together a cure set for drk (cause I'm lolcrazy :p ) and I have a 102 spell interrupt set as well but I play on vanilla, is there a way using macros and equipsets that I can utilize these like start in fc/switch to sid set/end in cure pot set?

So I’m seeing this talk about Reatic wand usage. In general from what I’ve gathered from convo is that light weather set up with SCH sub seems to be of more value for cure power than any combination of the reatic wand and cure II pot?

Short answer. No.

Long answer. There's a few different issues with this.

For starters, the fastest you can normally consecutively change the gear in a given slot is about every 0.5 seconds. I don't really know how much FC+ DRK can get, but with capped casting time. the typical cure cast time goes from 2.5 sec, to 0.5 seconds. Since the precast is equipped before the spell is actually casts, and there's a slight time delay( very slight) between every line in a vanilla macro, you could at most precast and midcast. There's not enough time to get the last swap in.

But even if there was.... you'd have to know when to trigger it. And this would be different for every spell(that differs in cast time) But the bigger problem there, is that vanilla macros only support whole number waits. you can't use decimals. So you can't have it wait 0.5 seconds or 1.5 seconds. only 0, 1 or 2, etc.

So if your spell would finish 0.7 seconds after starting, you could only trigger the swap at 0 or 1 seconds. This would tend to make you either cast in the SIRD gear, or have gaps where you can be interrupted.

Next problem... due to lag between you and the server, trying to swap extremely close to when the spell resolves is mostly likely going to have unreliable results. you might get full potency sometimes, and not others. might even get mixed results, where the spell resolved halfway through swapping a gear set.

Basically, either midcast in cure+, midcast in SIRD, or make a hybrid set with capped SIRD and whatever cure you can fit in after.

And for reference, when to trigger the potency swap so it equips just before the spell resolves is something gearswap doesn't handle well either. It would have to be calculated, and wouldn't have the reliability of the other packet based triggers.

Thx Martel that's kinda what I expected. Fyi I have 71fc on drk. Ill probably do two sets one for sid and one for cure+ and maybe a mixed set. Kinda a pet project of mine to push what I can do with my fave job

Since I'm a vanilla player too here's my 2 cents about casting:

From my experience single target cure with capped FC goes off extremely fast that you almost never need to worry about getting interrupted. Even if you do get hit aquaveil can absorb it anyways. Unless you are super tanking with 10 mobs hitting you, the chance of getting hit mid cure multiple times before cure goes off is extremely low.

You can still do 2 sets swapping per cast with vanilla, I personally just ignore spell interruption- set for all single target cure spells. The only spell that I occasionally mid cast in spell interruption- is Utsusemi Ichi because the spell is quite slow even with capped FC, and there are no potency+ gears for it anyways. For single target cure it's not THAT required.

Curaga spells are slower, but it's also meh as /mage so I wouldn't worry too much about it, personally.

I swapped to a chantoyant staff/hachirian-no-obi set while capping cure I, enmity, and cure II 11% went from 634 to 882 on same target cure 3 sub sch with weather(was a run/rdm in muhra no cure received) vs a PLD my cure 3 does 1002. Only thing I can change for more cure power is kaykaus+1 head and feet but don't have gil for that.

Your pld cure 3 does more because you're wearing +potency received gear.

I was told that pot received didn't go over the 50%v potency cap. This is not true?
Cure potency received caps at 30% and is seperate from cure potency.
