I use the WS set for Victory smite, otherwise my TP set for spiral / other DEX WS or where multihits work better.
Obviously my WS isn't really that great, and I don't have Bhikku stuff, or Godhands. Here's some content I'm missing and would be interested in hearing advice on what to prioritise and do in order:
I have enough beads to begin an aeonic weapon. Can probably solo a few of them, if not on MNK then on RDM.
Haven't begun Dyna D. Only did the base Dynamis shadowlord kill and got the base relic armor (non-reforged).
Haven't touched Omen, I got Anchorite Gaiters +2 from deeds and that's it.
Haven't touched Abyssea, but I know Bhikku legs/chest are very important.
Haven't touched Ody, I know mpaca is quite important.
Haven't touched Vagary / Delve / other side content, mostly been on Ambu and Lilith. Curious about what other things for my sets I could get from those that are high priority.
Best bang for your buck time wise is probably to do missions to get closer to your sortie upgraded abysea gear. Other than that, going for a clear of bumba for some DT gear.
DT is so essential these days. It is really built into most of the newer gear cause you will do 0 damage if you are dead, so adhemar is one of the last bastions of the glass canon. Nowadays a "glass canon" might end up with 30-50% dt just because it is there. People often look a step further into magic evasion. (if you get a strong paralyze, you aren't winning the parse either).
Again, I think go for a lower level bumba shout if you can in odyssey and hope for at least the unlocks. And get missions done to get sortie, as it is stuff you can solo or team up with to get stuff. Omen gear wise isn't as necessary for mnk. There are pieces that I use, same with relic, but not as much these days.
That said, I love running omen, it is a lot of fun. Mnk (and now most dds) can tank some of the bosses nicely. Mnk is nice cause it doesn't need a lot of buffs vs many others. I guess you can do lilith too. It is less important than it was a few years ago when I returned to the game in 2019, though there is an accomplishment about getting all your malignance gear (at least prior to it being added to trove... w)
Also, any reason for people to use Sagitta over Godhands?
Asking because I'm seeing a surprising amount of povs of MNKs with trusts in solo videos using it on youtube, not sure if it's just because they don't have godhands or if there's an extra advantage.
Sagitta is quite a nice weapon with route A and B, imho inferior to Godhands but it's still nice and you can buy it without having to do all the Aeonic requirements.
Path A is a mini-empyrean with additional STP
Path B is a mini-mythic with additional SB2, which MNK can cap even without (unlike other jobs) but still, more freedom in equipment slots with this.
Both of these weapons, while inferior to the counterparts I mentioned, have the additional boon of not requiring an Aftermath management to get the additional effects.
It also has some nice additional nichey things, like the additional HP and DT-
So I mean, it's not the best but it's a nice weapon and for some people who can't be bothered with legendary weapons this is pretty easy to get, just need the gil.
I'm a returning player myself and looking to get back into playing Monk again. I'm kind of curious if anyone has a LUA that could be shared so I can see how the equipment would look for the Macro pieces and when the "Buff Active" setup is in place.

I have been workin on my MNK Chakra set tonight and noticed that with (Current) Volte Boots I have 3724 HP with +57 HP/23 Vit and then swapping to Nyame boots gives 3728 HP with +68 HP/24Vit. Anyone know why im only gaining 4 HP with Nyame even though I should be getting 11 HP?
Not tryin to nickle and dime my set atm but noticed that the stat change was not in line with how I thought it should be.
Swapping to Mpaca from Volte dropped me 3666 HP even though it has 50 HP and 23VIT. That is a 58 HP drop on what seems to be a 7 total HP difference.
I usually play mage jobs so if HP is calculated differently than what seems to make sense than maybe someone could help me understand?

My first guess would be something with Platinum Moogle Belt (or any other HP+% gear, Happy Egg?) is throwing the hard numbers off. Take that off and see if you get the proper 11 HP difference?
If that's not it, process of elimination/see if an item really is giving the correct HP it says it does (stuff can be wrong at times). Naked > note HP > add boots > note HP > swap boots > note HP etc.

Not sure what you mean. Tornado can do 99k with easy when paired with footwork and af+3 feet. You don't even need Aria or anything. If damage was uncapped fully buffed peak multi attack proc on high tp tornado would reach like 200k damage.

Godhands with Howling are like 25-30% higher DPS in sim (I couldnt add occ. kick attack double damage, so I just assumed some dps boost that it should provide).
Dragon fangs are like poor version of Prime with worse everything beside attack bonus on WS, but even without that attack bonus they will easily beat Dragon Fangs even at stage IV (stage IV with Maru is a sidegrade to Godhands with Howling)
After testing Dragon Blow out for a full day I have come to the same conclusion. The WS is actually decent when you gear for it (I even went and made a DEX / WS Damage cape for it) but the low base damage on Fangs hurts your non WS output a lot in comparison to Godhands. At 2000 TP I was very happy with the WS damage - gearing for WSD and DEX.
Eyeballing / log reading looks like the double kick damage is around a 20% chance or slightly less. As far as I can tell, it does not trigger on kick WS (obviously, but I tested it anyway).
That all being said, it is nice to have Distortion / Darkness chains without needing a Rank 4 Prime weapon, which for a lot of players will either be never or a long ways off. Outside of needing to make those SC though you would never use this. The reforged version fixes the base damage problem but then you are back to actually winning a Rank 1 prize to get it...
kind of the case for most of the -1 cast time weapons, if it were a little higher itd see some niche appeal but as in youd need to be countering mutltiple mobs to see that thing start to shine, fun but not something id use a 1 time selection on
You could definitely pull 50 mobs and get chakra back in literally 10 seconds.... Like the full omen floor or a whole pack of shoal mobs and that'd be neat and all.
If that was on Dragon Fangs, that'd be another free point, but by itself, no ones going to care.
Yeah, being able to Chakra 50% harder doesn't matter because Chakra is basically already a full heal. Being able to pull huge amounts of stuff in DT gear, position it, pop Counterstance, and then Chakra constantly while countering would be cool to do once or twice, but the only time you'd care is if you were genuinely solo because heals are free with a WHM character.
Ya Premium Heart looked like a fun toy but counter is capped at 80% (less due to acc but lets keep math easy, there's also perfect counter and stuff)
So when fighting something you can counter you are taking ~1 hit for every 4 you counter so each hit you take would go with 4 seconds off chakra timer on average.
Chakra has 180 second timer (150 with merits) basically I don't see the scenario where you actually need a shorter chakra cool down but you aren't dead by the time you get there. Maybe something with annoying debuffs but which hits really weak?
Also would have liked to see counter on the weapon. Capping counter more easily without counterstance would make it more viable.
