Papa Johns is politicizing this so why shouldnt anyone else? Cerberus.Dizzmal said: » News flash!!! Greedy People do not start a business to create jobs or make life for everyone better. They create them to make money.. call it greed all you want. They could give a rats *** on what you think. Theu will do what ever is needed to make more money. Cutting employees is the easiest and fastest way. and hence why they're greedy *** and are a plague to society. Lakshmi.Sparthosx said: » The dark underbelly of capitalism strikes again. Papa Johns is politicizing this so why shouldnt anyone else? I'm waiting for the inevitable "if they don't like it then they can just work somewhere else" fallacy. Why is this coming as a shock to people? This re-election has consequences and this is one of many. As angrykitty said, many employers are doing the same thing. Some employers even immediately laid off employees as soon as Obama won. If you voted for Obama then i'm sorry, but it's not my fault you weren't aware things like this were going to happen if he won.

Yes we realize that the wealthy keep instigating this class warfare, p2: Jetackuu said: » and welcome to the continuation of the class warfare they keep bringing on themselves. This is in no way Obama's fault other than he doesn't support the unfair advantage that the wealthy have been buying themselves. This is hysterical.
The firm I worked for two years ago was telling all of our clients about this loophole to get around the penalty and actually giving employees insurance. If a small firm knew about it, all firms did and probably told their clients the same.
Most companies aren't going to politicize it though. They are just going to do it and keep it quiet. I'm not sure why Papa John's wanted this type of backlash. They should have just did it without saying a word to the public. Jetackuu said: » Sylph.Washburn said: » Ok. So, this has been going on long before obamacare, and you're picking now to boycott a company that actually had a reason for it? Please, enlighten me as to why you're pointing directly at Papa John's and not companies like McDonald's, Burger King, WalMart etc etc. Gotta love how people pick convenient times to be political. I don't plan to eat there less than I already do. I don't eat there already because the pizza is mediocre and overpriced. They don't actually have a reason for it other than they are greedy ***. I already point at Wal-Mart, and Kmart for using these practices, I haven't seen BK or Mcdonalds doing it as rampantly or I'd point there too. Love your false accusations though, they just further prove the ridiculousness of this. You and your mom are hillbillies. God forbid the costs of his employees' healthcare get picked up by his customers instead of by every taxpayer and insured American, regardless of whether or not they like shitty pizza.

My employer is already talking about reducing the new hire workforce from 39 hours a week to 30 and considering only part-time hires for most of their new open positions. Employers are saving a ton of money with Obama care now and unfortunately I think this is only the beginning. Bottom line - less benefits = more money Americans will be working 2-3 part time jobs just to make it in today's economy. Obama promised change. Well here it is! Today I will fap myself senseless in the shower and the mess I will clean up will be nothing compared to the mess you will experience in the next forty years of your miserable lives (assuming any of you do not die from obesity). I like how you blame Obama instead of unscrupulous business practices amplified by out of control greed. Good lord the amount of feels in this topic

I'm done here. and I boycotted Papa John's because they make terrible pizza...
Man, those Rich people are getting really butt hurt that they won't be getting their unfair huge tax breaks for much longer. I imagine someone with 300 million dollars is so butthurt all the time about everything, life must be horrible
Its like asking Kingzak to buy all of sylph silent oils and prism powders so they dont get aggro.
It's not a boycott if you're not giving anything up. How many people here admittedly don't even eat Papa John's (and rightly so, it's terrible pizza).
You don't have to look much further than the SOPA/PIPA/ACTA protests to show how much of an inch the FFXIAH community is willing to give for a cause (and an actually important one, in that case) when most people replying said they wouldn't participate in the March blackout because Mass Effect 3 was coming out... I'm not condemning a call to action, but get real. This is nothing more than a venting thread. How the richest super power in the world can have such idiots actually hurts my brain. Seriously, Americans... what the *** is wrong with large portions of your country? Is there a lottery where they drop every 3rd or 4th child on their head to make many of you this way? Moonwalkerv said: » I read the news story, then I read the thread. Quote: Come on, minimum wage is enough to live on... Definately enough to support a family at 29 hours a week. Especially if you or your kid gets sick.... Imo, you shouldn't be able to support a family on minimum wage (hence being minimum). Minimum wage should be a wage where you should be able to support yourself and any medical expenses that come your way. If you want to have a family with a stay at home mom and all the goodies for your kid, you're going to have to move up a little bit in the world first. If you want to have a family with a stay at home mom and all the goodies for your kid, you're going to have to move up a little bit in the world first. it isn't and I disagree with your assessment. I never said it was, but when setting a minimum wage, that's where it should be set. Minimum wage should be the skill level jobs where high school kids will go for, not something you make a life career of. Again, move up in the world, set, and advance towards some goals. One person on a minimum wage job shouldn't make a comfortable life for a family of 3 (stay at home mom + kid).
Now 2 sets of minimum wage (mom and dad working), should have enough leftover from each of the two to support a kid, but if you want to start popping out more kids, then get a better job. Though, that's just my opinion on it. Jetackuu said: » Sylph.Tigerwoods said: » Quote: Come on, minimum wage is enough to live on... Definately enough to support a family at 29 hours a week. Yeah. Everyone should have a baseline life of luxury and frivolity. Its our god given right! I don't think that's what he said, but ok.

If you voted for Obama then i'm sorry, but it's not my fault you weren't aware things like this were going to happen if he won. Welcome to the real world. You gotta do what you gotta do to run a business, sometimes that means laying people off and other undesirable things as a boss, I dont hold that against him, necessarily. What the *** is the point of publicly crying/blaming a candidate you dont like for it though? People arent going to read that ***and be like, aw papa johns is suffering, lets order tonight and help support the local business. No, people are going to be like *** papa johns. All it is, is another whiny little *** that didnt get their way this election, and is pouting as loud and proud as possible (some adults are indeed just big children/babies). Yeah this is the real world, where ONE *** can ruin things for millions, but there should be safegaurds in place to prevent that kinda greedy/idiotic stuff from happening.. Like him facing jail time, or a firing squad even <.< For politicizing this, anyway.. This is what i don't, or will ever understand: How so many ignorant people out there will find a way to blame everyone but themselves when their bad business methods inevetably cause their businesses to fail.
As i pointed out earlier, people will pay MORE for quality pizza. Which means that there really isn't a need to fire people just because someone they don't like won the election. Also, it's illegal to do so. Patient Protection Affordable Care Act is designed to actually HELP businesses, by keeping people healthy, and able to work. (How many times does this need to be reinforced?) Although businesses aren't in the business of creating jobs, they would not be where they are without their employees, simple as that. Recording record profits, reducing working hours, jobs, etc., and they have the unmitigated nerve to *** their way into hoping someone will feel bad for them. "Oh haigaiz, i can't afford to keep all of you employed because someone i don't want as president, was re-elected, i'm firing some of you." I would think unethical business practices, shitty service, food, or overall quality (which is how things work in the real world, hello!) is why businesses, big or small, sink. Having healthcare tied to employment is stupid.
Depends. I have my personnal health insurance but then my company also offers total coverage on a few things.
Win/win, I would say. |
