Herjas Fork
Ophannus said: » I usually Jump in as much DA/TA/QA gear as possible(although DA's effect is diminished because of OAT, it still lends itself to a higher frequency of a double hit Jump which is a free ws) Chauvre/Pole/XXX/Thew Bomb Sceamol/Ganesha/Brutal/Ghillie AF3/Lancer+2/Oneiros/Mars Atheling/Windbuffet/Calmecac/Phorcys (for soul jump I use Phorcys Feet, for spirit jump I use af3) Again I focus on multi hit jumps in order to get a 2-3 hit on Jump for that free instant WS. How about sTP for jump? I made some quick jump set and its around 22%DA 2%TA and 5%QA (with new body) That gives around 1.63 avg for chauve 1.47 avg for Herja Thats around 10-11% INCREASE in hits per jump for Chauve Damage: 179-212 (various with fSTR) for Chauve ( thats base ofc ) 207-236 for Herja Thats 11-15,5% INCREASE for jump damage with Herje So 11-15% stronger jumps with 10% less TP. I would say Herje wins again imo. Offline

The body has enough store TP, I parse a pretty high multihit jump rate with this set, I infrequently get single hit jumps.

Dropping Enif body for af3+2 gives a little advantage for Chauve. Its changes to 11.5% more TP from Chauve jump over Herja (from previous 10%) still not enough imo. Also do you use Drakes over Stardiver with that grip? Eh sorry, it was meant to be a pole grip. And yeah I use diver. I have 1 more haste than cap, no biggie, and my stp means I have a much more reliable 5 hit build, yours relies on you getting 3 hits on a ws, mine relies on nothing. You'll find my set works better~ Offline

Meh I think the +20 attack and 3% DA on Atheling would win for stardiver in most situations especially since DRG is gonna be /SAM on most things outside of VW and we lack berserk/last resort.

Atheling does win on /SAM for diver. I just never made a second itemset for /SAM lol... Also do you use Drakes over Stardiver with that grip? Well my set is 1sTP more (you lose 10 from body but gain 6from weapon and 5 from head) than what you use now. It also have 6sTP from weapon active during WS. I guess I could just count it... 6+5+1+5+4+5+6+15+3 = 50 during TP 5+1+6+15 = 27 during WS Looks like 5 hit build only with 4hits stardiver. Rose strap would change it to 2hit stardiver and Herja would still beat OAT by very fair margin. But really when you last time fought on DRG and you needed perfect 5 hit build? Even with quadruple attack in tp round after WS you will get that one tic of regain 99% of the time ( or you will get TP from being hit ). Offline

Still find it hard to believe OAT is only 7-8% WS frequency over the Fork. When I use OAT I WS all day long, nearly 55-60% DA/OAT rate getting back 20 TP per swing, getting full 100%+ TP on jumps frequently etc. I just don't see how it can only be 7-8% more WS freq and not something like 15-20% or more.
Oph are you finally happy with dragoon compared to samurai lol?

Because quad attack on the herj has a chance to proc during TP and jumps? Offline

OAT can proc on jumps but not on WS.

...which OAT can also do. Jumps are the main advantage that OAT has, but it still seems to lose in the bigger picture.

Phorcys/Ganesha/Brutal/Ghillie Enif/Ogier's/Tyrant/Rajas Atheling/Phos/Phorcys/AF3 19.0% TP per hit with /WAR. Basically 5 hit just need to land a few hits in Stardiver and maybe get hit. Anyway it wins out against OAT /SAM against Pil with true 5hit. /SAM ftl for DRGs in 2012? Hell even with OAT and /WAR you can easily get a true 5 hit with the above gear only thing /SAM would offer is survivability med/sekka and with zerk/10% DA and all the QA/TA/DA on your gear in the above set the average # of hits on OAT vs Hejas is pretty comparable(Average # of hits per round with OAT and gear is ~1.427 vs 1.326 with Heja) and with berserk and stuff it trounces /SAM including hasso's bonus. Thats because you can equip a lot QA/DA with DRG now and all that DA and QA is very limited by OAT. If you equip lets say 5%QA and 20%DA with OAT you can only proc that QA and DA when OAT wont proc. That means OAT actually reducing your hit rate when it proc in the same round as QA and also doesnt give additional hit rate when it proc during the same round as DA. Showing this very simply its: 5%QA 15 more swings during 100 rounds 20%DA 19 more swings during 100 rounds (because it can proc on 95 hits that QA wont) 34 more swings For OAT it looks like: 5%QA 9 more swings during 100 rounds 20%DA 11 more swings during 100 rounds OAT 40 more swings during 100 rounds When OAT is obviously more its not 40+34 but 40+20. OAT advantage will be lower with every DA QA you add. For example the one above is 160/134 19% advantage. Now add 2%QA and 10%DA normal weapon 7%QA 21 extra swings 30%DA 28 extra swings OAT: 7%QA 12.5 extra swings 30%DA 16.5 extra swings OAT 40 extra swings 169/149 Only 13.5% advantage On top of that herje has its own 3%QA which is quite a lot. Last thing that adds up is 15 lower delay. Its not much but its still -3% (kinda like hidden sword strap). OAT check is AFTER QA/TA/DA check, so your numbers are definitely off.
5%QA/20%DA/40%OAT would result in 5%QA= 15 swings in 100 rounds 20%DA= 19 swings in 100 rounds 40%OAT= 30.4 swings in 100 rounds OAT=164.4 swings or 1.644/rnd 164.4/134= 22.69% increase 7%QA/30%DA/40%OAT 7%QA= 21 30%DA= 27.9 40%OAT= 26.04 174.94/148.9=17.49% increase Now as far as OAT compared to Herja with 1st example would be 1.644(OAT)/507delay =20TP @ +45sTP= 3.89TP/sec 1.424(herja)/492delay =20TP @ +51sTP(46 after fork)=3.47TP/sec 3.89/3.47=12.1%inc in TP gain 2nd example would be OAT= 1.7494 swings=4.14TP/sec Herja= 1.57 swings = 3.83TP/sec 4.14/3.83= 8.09% increase in TP gain So OAT is only 8% higher WS frequency on your 2nd example but is much higher on your 1st example @ 12.1%. Unless I am screwing something up completely, but I think I did that all right. So what's the current verdict on this polearm compared to OAT then? This may dictate whether I come back to the game or not. =o

Hasso's 10% Haste bonus is still incredibly hard to beat (especially with buff levels commonly seen these days).
I dont unserstand how my math wasnt called a *** from start. I somehow assumed OAT proc before trait when its other way around? Seriously none have seen that till now? XD
Im blushing from shame and I apologize. I will try to make another math for this weapon in near future. S00Ry! Offline

Quote: I don't understand the recent trend against DRG/SAM? Hasso's 10% Haste bonus is still incredibly hard to beat (especially with buff levels commonly seen these days). I think /WAR with a higher damage polearm beats out /SAM with OAT for embrava zergs, the higher WS damage is favored. In most parses with embrava my WS to Melee damage ratio is 80%/20% due to Jumps and stuff. So I'm actually not really meleeing too much, my damage is primarily from WSing. /SAM is good for dungeon crawl type events where you're fighting numerous, successive yet smaller battles in a row where consistent damage and survivability is key. I think /WAR wins out for all out short zergs. The difference in damage that that berserk makes is huge for a job like DRG with no native attack boost. Berserk turns 900-1300damage stardivers in1to 1700-2200 stardivers(Comparing parses on Provenance Watcher/Odin/ADL with /SAM and /WAR for all 3 fights) Offline

Too bad that nobody does Neo Einherjar. I'd really like a Fork. But everyone is too busy spamming Dynamis and Pil to actually do something new.
25%Attack adds almost 100% WS damage...?

I'm very pleased in that even if I assume I'm only ever going to land 3-hits of stardiver/drakes I can, not only ws in only brutal and rajas, afford a HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE amount of latitude in my jump sets (while still maintaining 5-hits). My problem is in deciding what gloves to wear as its been *** forever since I even let drg see the light of day (the week i finished OAT sadly). I've pretty much narrowed it down to Lancer's v. Phorcys. In that case I'll probably use phorcys due to drg's gimp-as-***attack, and the additional str from set bonus. Is there anything I missed outside of those two? I was making an exaggerated claim that most of the populations is too concentrated on specific goals such VwNM and with their empy/relics to actually go out and do other activities with such a small selection of rewards. The old systems where only some individuals get rewarded for events is over. Obviously not to the Dev. Team but it is to the player base. I can't see more than a small handful of people across all servers participating in Legion and Neo Einherjar. I base this on nothing but my own observations of course but I see nobody with Legion equip or the new Neo Einherjar equip. No shouts in Jeuno. No linkshells recruiting. No posts on FFXIAH server forums. I apologize for the rant but it's becoming disheartening as there are things in both of these events that I would like. I recruit a few pickups to round out an Odin-II alliance once weekly on ragnarok. Sat 11:30am jst.
