Whoisguard is cheaper though, $2.88/yr. EDIT: The ID thing. I'm confused here, piracy is illegal...eventually companies are going to actually prosecute everyone they can if something isn't done on the government level. Can someone explain to me the parts of this bill that would be an abuse?

Check out the video. http://www.ffxiah.com/forum/topic/28019/sopastop-online-piracy-act/2/#1705470 They want the power to meddle with our DNS systems to block piracy sites, specifically overseas. I'd add emphasis to the fact that they already have methods of preventing copyright abuse, and the language in the law is far to general, takes away due process, and hurts generally would not work the way the advertised intent says. Ragnarok.Evandis said: » I'm confused here, piracy is illegal...eventually companies are going to actually prosecute everyone they can if something isn't done on the government level. Can someone explain to me the parts of this bill that would be an abuse? that number of lawsuits would be too costly to prosecute, and they could never get the money out of most offenders. Like I said earlier: you can't stop piracy and they are fools for trying, and this would pretty much cripple the internet economy which is probably their true intent since Hollywood is a dying industry being overrun by cheap internet entertainment and video games. they are trying to hurt their competition instead of innovating or making better movies. Not to mention that the entertainment industry regularly lobbies to get stuff like this passed. As stated in the video, they've gone after vcr, mp3s, anything that could allow a copy of something to be made, whether you're in your rights to make copies or not. The entertainment industry takes a sledgehammer to whatever poses a small threat to their profits.
I see...now I understand, it's basically the same thing as when I posted a cell phone video of a drive in my car where a suspension noise could be heard for fellow members of the DSM community to help me diagnose and I got threatened for copyright infringement because my radio happened to be on in the car.
What PIPA poses to do is much worse. In that instance the site you hosted on could be held responsible for having that material, and you could be held criminally responsible.
As of right now youtube has a method of preventing infringing material from staying up, they can report it and take it down, which is what happened to you. PIPA proposes steps to make punishment much more severe, in the name of blocking overseas pirates. In all likelihood it won't stop overseas pirating very much as it blocks access to the dns only, not the actual ip, and it will increase the penalties for people who use social media within the US. What's interesting is the criminal component of the bill. The reason the US can't stop overseas pirate sites is they don't have the jurisdiction to bring them to court. The same thing would happen with the criminal component, it could only realistically target US citizens, which is not what the stated purpose of the bill is. Also as stated in the video it could be used as a legal tool to bully start-up companies. Small companies can be held responsible for having just 1 infringing link, so larger established companies can harass smaller companies that may not yet have the power to moderate every tiny detail on their site, and lock them up in the legal system with lawsuits. I would really like IP laws to be addressed. Referring to my same example as above, I think they are abusing copyright infringement laws. I mean clearly a video in which a song in the background is being played where loud suspension noises and my horrid singing can be heard, is not being used by anyone on their MP3 player. Except now the community you posted the video on can be blacklisted for not censoring videos like that. ... then they blow your car for publicly playing copyrighted music without the proper license and royalty fees. ;-) Fenrir.Scragg said: » Ragnarok.Evandis said: » I see...now I understand, it's basically the same thing as when I posted a cell phone video of a drive in my car where a suspension noise could be heard for fellow members of the DSM community to help me diagnose and I got threatened for copyright infringement because my radio happened to be on in the car. If someone comes to blow up my car for using my iPod with music legally purchased on iTunes, then a lot of us are ending up dead. Ok sweet got this message:
Quote: EPP code submitted EPP code has been submitted successfully. You should receive your transfer approval email within the next 24 hours. So hopefully I'll be apart of the namecheap family lol. Scragg will I have to wait to input my name servers, or will they automatically grab them?
I don't know if it's similar to GoDaddy.com but I enter my name servers and usually it directs to my host with-on 3-5 minutes.
Need to raster black even all the post here.. lol
