I wouldn't spend money on arma99 for solely RNG anyway, future content will favor Anni, more so because it'll be the return of Coronach, much like with OdinV2. Not discrediting arma though, it's definately worth having I just don't find it worth upgrading to 99 for the sole sake of RNG.
Ouch. Ingots are like 60kish here, only 30k if you can buy the ores (10k ea.). I recommend farming the new adamantoise mobs; they drop adaman ores pretty often.

Yep, I farm the adamantoise in Gustav* tunnel, and collect a lot of others from Abyssea whenever I'm there.

Oh... so go for an Anni then. I'd rather spam mobs for 30 days than boringly camp a fukton of mobs haha. Even though Arm is prolly quicker to get in the LR haha

What I did is made both at the same time. Make armageddon because it very easy to make and its great when magic damage is needed and gives you more utility over all as a player because you can play as a COR now without being useless between rolls. Just leave it at 85. Make annihilator for rng and get it to at least 95, you wont be disappointed :D

I've decided to hell with Mandau and use my currency for an Annihilator instead!
and then I'm gonna dualwield Anni and Arma!

Same gear and everything as before . . .
624.2775 ranged attack with velocity shot boost (1.15 * 1.05 caban)
1.9091 max cRatio
109.5 base damage
209.047 max damage
261.3088 max damage with piercing bonus
Still inconclusive as before, but the numbers fit better. 261 is the highest damage I was able to achieve on G. Colibri:
Caban: 256 250 248 248 255 237 242 248 (445) (461) (453) 251 246 246 250 240 243 242 252 252 (453) 250 (437) 256 242 250 (465) 258 240 242 247 257 240 243 256 240 242 250 (437) 252 261 261 247 245 260
Max: 261
So the boost seems to be separate from velocity shot. You still need velocity shot to be active of course, but it's a separate boost of another 5% rather than just increasing the velocity shot boost to 20%. It's basically like having ranged attack +5% on the body, which is pretty nice.
Again, I still need to do more precise testing, but I just wanted to clarify my original post where I assumed it was a 15%->20% boost.

Never even checked the magian options out tbh (other than relic/emp), but just from glancing at the list, STR gun definitely seems like the way to go.

Those have been bugging me for a while so I just did the math comparing scout's, thaumas, and leoht gloves. Scout's and leoht are almost exactly the same (was literally 5 damage difference using greater colibri as a reference; scout's won), while thaumas were pretty far behind. I'm assuming full buffs of velocity shot, berserk, red curry, scout's caban, etc. so the ranged attack plays a much bigger role. Without those buffs, thaumas should win. It's gonna be one of those situations where berserk up = scout's, berserk down = thaumas. I'm glad I did the math because I've been using thaumas gloves for everything.
Anyway, in conclusion, don't waste your points on these gloves unless you want them for COR. Scout's are much easier to come by.
Edit: oh in answer to your question zouave's beret is a great idle piece.

Yeah I've been using scout's, just wondering if these worth the points. If they about the same, scout's it is!
I bet the beret would be nice coupled with http://www.ffxiah.com/item/11585/beguiling-collar

Idle as in "/ra <t>" shots I assume? I saw this and thought it was nifty but not enough to make me swap my beret+2 off.

Less idle more "I pulled hate" gear set, I would think =P. Throw some pdt on and those 2 items take 1-2 hits and you're good.

So i'm confused with a lot of people saying 4/5 thaumas is inferior and i see a lot of people just posting the 4/5 thaumas. Can't find a spreadsheet so i'm at a loss right now.

Reading through, trying to get my ranger up to snuff as I'm leaning very heavily toward making an Annihilator. Or, I guess, more specifically, my ranger macros as the majority of the gear is already in my posession.
I need to get spellcast updated and a good .xml for pre/post-shot setups, so not even going into that quite yet but as far as Lans Stand is concerned, this is my current set:
Pretty much on target here, right? Or am I missing something glaring?
Clearview will get adjusted to Sylvan when I get one. I never actually bothered to pick one up in the Abyssea-spamming days.

I would personally use terebellum mantle over Sylvan unless you're relying on that Store TP for an X hit.

There seems to be much consternation over this. Trying to eyeball this thread I've seen it both ways and no one seems to be coming down decisively either way.
I also wonder on agility earring/rings vs. strength earring/rings for Legion-type content. Agility modifier for Last Stand is huge, it's true, but so are those mobs.
So what set up is everyone using for Last Stand? What type of damage are you doing?
This is the set I've just thrown together with stuff I already have:
*Arete Del sol is augmented with R.Attack+5
Working towards this atm:
Just did this a few minutes ago playing around:
