The Indians in america didnt have such politics before, but yours or someone elses grand grand grand daddy still managed to cough in their face till they got all the european diseases. So blaming it on politics just aint a valid solution :/

I'm just saying that logic would lead you to the idea that there are very sick people south of the border and they should stay there. Let them keep their diseases down there and out of our hospitals and schools. If you have sick horses.. you close the barn door so your other horses don't get sick as well. The reason we haven't closed the border is purely political.

think closing the border can just mean more ***for the usa economy (in between many other things), something thats allready ***by itself atm.
think about it "closing the border" is kinda a monumental thing in too few many aspects to "just do it". but yeah in genereal, just closing it would be cool and safer for sure.

Competely closing the border sure... but really I think he more to the illegals. The ones that come in legally generally arent as bad cause well they also generally have more money therefore can idk bath more regularly eat better see doctor now and then. Ya know all the little things that we take for granted taht help keep us healthy.

Closing the border would also greatly help our economy. Our health care system is crippled for all the illegal immigrants that just run into hospitals and receive treatment that they can not pay for. Who is stuck with the bill?.. The doctors are stuck with the bill.. and they pass on the costs to us. That is money that we pay to wipe their behinds. If we could keep them out of our hospitals and out of our government programs getting hand outs at every turn it would mean that we had more money for ourselves. Hasn't anyone ever heard of survival of the fittest? Where did this sense of entitlement originate from?

I have heard of survival of the fittest, and it typically refers to genetic advantages, or on a larger scale, cultural advantages. In the case of a epidemic disease, where it originates is largely random, and is not the result of unfit individuals or culture. In this situation, fitness isn't a factor at all.
If you want real survival of the fittest, we should let immigrants in, let the swine influenza run rampant, and see who's alive at the end.

While this epidemic is going on, we should close the border in both directions.
There are many in the US that don't support the closing of the Mexican border despite all of the problems the illegal aliens create in our health care system, the threat to national security and the jobs that they take from legal citizens. I understand why politicians would want this to happen, but I don't understand how citizens would want this to happen.

The reason it's being made fun of is it's not really a disaster, at least not yet. It is very possible that the phase 5 pandemic status the swine flu has received is unjustified. The following article explains:

That isn't to say it couldn't mutate into something really bad, but the likelihood of that occurring seems the have been overstated.

it is precisely in the bad moments we must make jokes like these to keep a level head. i don't find the joke particularly offensive or heartless, as it doesn't target any real afflicted person. that being said, i understand how one could respond differently if a relative of theirs had it.

All the *** about the Swine Flu is because us Americans are easily frightened, and the media likes to freak out about pretty much everything, and generally we're pretty dumb, so we freak out as well.
