Having some problems. Im 33 fishing and one recommendation for skill ups was cone calamari+bluetails in batallia. Soon as I arrived I got a .1 (calamari) and .2 (bluetail) within the first 4 catches. However after that I got nothing at all. After 30 calamari and 20 bluetails later I got frustrated and gave up.

I have a pelican ring but it's been said to save it for higher levels.

Is it just that much better on shall shells in nashmau? Or something else? Thanks.

Thanks. I've fished up over 150+ Haks on two characters and haven't seen one skill up.

Shells were awesome for me. Averaging out your skill ups over 54 catches you got 0.3 - 0.1 per every 18 casts. Not too bad stats but with a Pelican active you'd probably expect more. But that's what bad/good luck is. You never know, you may have been only one more cast away from another 0.2 ;)

Edit: Just realised, if you tick over to 101 or more fishing on ffxiah, your score (of 9,000 for level 100) registers as 0. Looks like ffxiah fishing power level is not over 9,000.

I just read up on Fish Ranking and the whole thing on how to get the Pelican Ring. This is amazing, and with Alchemy 100-110 presenting itself like a major pain, I'm even more down for this.

Just synced up my wiimote to computer.
I can fish comfortably with the wiimote from across the room. I'm freaking out.
D-Pad = Pull A/D (Compact Keyboard); Button 1 = Esc Key; Button 2 = y (Confirm Catch); and Button A = Ctrl 2 (/fish).
Alternate for one handed fishing -> Button B (Trigger) = y (Confirm Catch); and Button Minus = Esc Key.

That's all we need - SE to have decided to reinvent the way decimals work. Seems you're not 101.2 but instead 100.11 :)

Edit: Maybe I should remove this post; I don't want SE to read this and get the idea of implementing 0.01 skill ups.

Edit 2: Question - Can you get a skill up when your rod breaks? I know you can get one when your line snaps but I can't ever remember having one for rod break.

So I was thinking if I have 100 cooking 100 fishing and if i get my WW to 70 and get the +1 items for WW would i be able to fix my Lushangs on my own?

Edit: Broken lu is lvl 80 synth, with 70+2 or w/e you should have no problem, maybe a few breaks but shouldnt be that bad.

yes, i got a skill up while fishing Liks and my Lu snapped, got .3 skill up.

Yeah. But remember that the cap will raise again in the future so you'll be able to hit 80, and maybe even 90 or 100 depending on what SE have planned.
