Doesn't your team have names above their head on console?
If not, you'll get used to it. Once you get used to the uniforms it's easy to tell who is on who's side. Your team should also be showing up on your map, just glance at your map every once in awhile and check the movements of your team. Also, you'll get used to where the enemy is coming from, eventually.
im a CoD players so the map placement is weird for me... also the member icons is kinda hard to see due to the map being the same color has the member icons (blue) the maps player icons are so small that i dont even glace at it anymore... when enemys shot at you they do come up as a red arrow on the map but again its small so its barely visible to see where there at you'll get a better gauge on their location just by looking at the bullets hurling towards you lol or the damage indicator knowing from which direction your being shot from.
also the button placement i dont like very much because i was a hardcore CoD player button placement on BF confuses me at times or when im in the heat of battle i tend to forgot the BF button commands and press something thats CoD command related, for example i like to prone with the circle button and knife with R3 so in BF knife button is R2 and prone is R3 i can see how its easy to get killed lol thats one that i hope you ca config (button placement) because in the beta version your not able to.
edit: (considering the map) many of the times while playing CoD i like t brng up the big map with the start button to have even a better understanding where the enemy are. and in BF they dont have a feature like this well not in beta anyway
edit2: for the above vid... i have a HD lcd samsung 46" 3d lcd TV series 7 (i believe its 7, not home to check atm) unless my TV is out date or something... i havent experienced the same graphic quality that video is showing, dont get me wrong i do see the building & walls blowing up but it isnt movie like graphics like the video maybe its the beta? idk... but it dosnt look that smooth for some reason. (i'll try and take a picture when i get home)
