Battlefield 3
I can't fly those damn jets. Hell, even the helicopters elude me. But the amtrak in Rush... That's where I excel.
Looking for a ps3 co-op partner also. psn name is WuRzarector.
yea man seriously, that was amazing lol. i could only dream of becoming that good in a jet. going to dig around to see if there is a flight stick that someone makes for ps3.
on another note, im having a real good time with co op. only let down is that there are only 6 missions. Wish I was on pc D:

I dunno if this will help you or not, but when I first tried getting decent at the heli's in BF2, I was already a seasoned Jet fighter, but I found the heli's impossible to fly because I was giving them constant controls.. I started being able to control them when I was just doing a series of taps to control them.. Including the altitude control. I don't really know how to explain the mouse portion except, think of it as a conductor's stick. It doesn't really spend a lot of time in any given position. It's in a constant state of changing direction and speed. An example would be just simply moving forward, you first dip the nose down low (move the mouse far up) then after you've started forward, you need to level the nose out so you don't just fly into the ground (pull the mouse back some 1/3 to 1/2 of how far you pushed it forward). It takes practice but you can make some pretty complex moves just by 'pattern' you create in moving the mouse. Unlocked all the guns for Assault besides the co-op ones. Now to decide on which gun to play with.
So basically, just take everything you've said, and replace "mouse" with "right joystick". Alright, thanks Slip. I'll tell you this much; the multiplayer on this runs circles around Call of Duty.

I have gotten amazing at flying helicopters. Still can't fly jets.
BF isn't great about mimicing actual helicopter controls, but one thing to remember is that an increase in speed requires an increase in elevator throttle to maintain the same altitude, and a decrease requires less throttle. In order to turn more sharply or to reduce your speed via flaring, use your rudder and tail rotor keys to induce whatever turn you want - but note that a sudden decrease in speed will require more throttle as well because you're reducing your lift.
Best thing for learning to fly (jets and choppers) is to do a search for conquest large, and pick an empty server. The map in the desert with the road running straight through the middle and all the gasworks and stuff is really good as it only needs 2 players to start. Will work even better if you have a friend that can join you, or even join you to start the game and then they can bugger off. Once the game has started, doesn't matter if there's only one person, it won't end until someone wins, so just don't capture flags and you can stay as long as you like.
For PC, here's the best I can say. Jets: W and S are for increasing and decreasing speed, it's not like a car accelerator where you need to hold W the whole time to go forward, it's more like a lever or something. So once you have your desired speed, you don't need to press these. The slower you're going the faster you can turn, but you won't generally wanna go much slower than about 300 (speed is top left side of your targeting reticule). A and D are to turn, or drift left and right gradually. I'd ignore these completely while learning, but they're good for lining up targets once you've got the hang of it. Mouse X is bank, Mouse Y is tilt. Before you even try and fly, change the camera view to 3rd person and just sit on the runway. Play with the mouse and look at what your flaps are doing. You'll notice that when you move the mouse the flaps move, but as soon as you stop moving the mouse, they stop moving. This is important to know, because it means that your X and Z resets to 0 whenever you're not moving the mouse and you will fly straight ahead at whatever angle you're at. Practice how fast you have to move the mouse downwards to keep the rear flaps up constantly, it'll help you to turn tight circles to get that down, you may notice that you actually don't have to move the mouse that fast, a slower but constant mouse dragging will get you better results. Once you learn to get off the ground without crashing and burning in the first 5 seconds, practice barrel rolls, and loops. Loops aren't really important, but it helps you get a feel for things. Then practice flying around in circles, see how tight you can get them by slowing down without stalling. Tips: -Learn where light/power poles are, they're some of the few things that aren't destructible, they don't load on your screen until you're right on them, and if you so much as brush one you will explode. -Pulling up works a lot better than diving down, so practice 180 degree barrel rolls to make sure you're always the right way up. It's just as easy to fly up-side down as up the right way, but you can really pay for that in a pinch. -Practice snap turns. Rolling 90 degrees then pulling up to avoid building and such suddenly. -The first levels suck, and you will die a lot, but stick with it. It gets easier once you get IR flares, and easier again once you get heat seekers. -Pick random cars around the map for target practice once you get the hand of things. Choppers: W and S are up and down, if you don't press anything, you will slowly fall down until you're about a metre off the ground, where wash will hold you up. A and D will turn you left and right. Unlike the jet, this is essential for turning around. As with the jet, Mouse X is bank, Mouse Y is tilt. This is basically how you move. Simply move the mouse in the direction you want to head, whether it's forwards, sideways or backwards. When you let go of the mouse you will stay at the same angle, which, while it's exactly the same as the jet, feels quite different because you need to pull the mouse back in the opposite direction to straighten up. It should also be noted that holding W while tilting forward will move you forward, holding S while tilting forward will still move you forward, but you'll lose height rapidly at the same time, this is often a better option than simply tilting further forward. Probably the best thing to practice with to get a feel for it is to take off, hover, and land. Do that a few times, then take off, move to another location, and land there. Practice staying upright while turning. Practice strafing around something. Pick the highest building/tower, and try and fly around it while facing it the entire time. Also try all the same stuff on an angle, some scout helicopters have no guns and you'll have to rely on your passengers to shoot, who are on your sides. Learning to fly wherever you want with your gunner facing the way you're travelling will make you a real danger to everything unamoured rather than just a scout. You'll also want to learn to fly fast and as low to the ground as you can without crashing, although brushing the ground in a helicopter isn't nearly as bad as in a jet, those light poles will still *** you up, they'll flip you sideways really fast and make you crash into the ground on your head. This is useful for avoiding missile lock from stinger missiles or AA missiles, not so much for other aircraft, but you find and shoot those down yourself. IR flares will help, but once you start to do a lot of damage from your chopper you'll find people start ganging up on you and the recharge on flares is slow. As with the jet, pick random cars to use as target practice when in an attack chopper. Shoot at them both from massive distances and from close quarters while strafing around them. Learn how many times you can fire off all your rockets at a target without having to turn around. And then practice fast fly overs anyway, coming up to one of your victim cars at speed, firing off all your rockets as you fly over, then turning around for another pass as fast as you can. You'll want to get a feel for how far you have to fly over it before you can turn back for another pass. Further to that, pick a highway or something to follow, and practice flying in a straight line along it, but changing which direction you face while maintaining your line. As with all practicing, start off at higher altitudes and get lower to the ground once you get the hang of it. A chopper than can follow any path a few meters above ground while facing any direction you choose is an absolute powerhouse. Like jets, both types of choppers can suck until you get some exp and unlock some better stuff. There are two easy ways of doing this, in capture game-modes, capture flags with the helicopter, you don't even have to land, just hover above it. The capture points will go towards the type of chopper you're in, even if you're just an afk passenger. The other way is to go as passenger/gunner. You'll get a small amount of points from any kill or vehicle disable and you'll get full points from any capture. However, if you have a good pilot and you're on the gun, you can rack up a lot of points by taking ***out. With a good pilot/gunner team in an attack chopper, the gunner will get more points than the pilot, as they will get the majority of the kills and disables. I find it easier to use the arrow keys then the mouse when flying.

I wish they had details on the guns, other than "range - medium" since the maps are so large scale.I'd at LEAST like a damage rating because everyone seems to use the F2000,which magically 1 shots you in the foot (not a headshot) from up close and miles away.
Well the only thing worse in BF2 than the F2000 was the G3. I wish they'd add damage as well, I mostly go by caliber since there isn't one, and it's seemed to work for me.

I HATE the f2000. I'm constantly getting mowed down by it, regardless of range, speed or any amount of cover between me and said gun. Though I recently started enjoying the KH2002. I thought it was rather bad at first, but compared to the other burst fire ones, it's a really nice gun. I use the F2000 on assault because the absurd RoF it has in CQC. After 80m it takes 7+ shots in single shot mode to kill someone. I tried using the heavy barrel on it for long range shots. The AK and M4 series does it much better then the F2000 so I set up for CQC.
If the target is 70m or less you can keep it in full auto and burst them down really quick because you literally fire half the clip in 1 second. With Fore-grip the gun has very little recoil. I run Suppressor/Grip/IR on mine for awesome CQC and looks. Basically if you are past 80m any other assault rifle will outshoot it. If you are under 80m then you can turn them into swiss cheese. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/lv?key=0Ag42gMGK9WrwdHRfa0JhdW9TR1E0bjBueWVSQjc0V0E&f=true&noheader=false&gid=0 Here's a damage spreadsheet that was put together. F2000 is the AK74u of BF3.

Slip we should try some Co-op later today. Bismarck.Dreadnot said: » These are pure win. Slip we should try some Co-op later today. I'm up for it if you are.. I gotta cook in a little bit but after that I'll play. I've been putting off the co-op cuz I don't just wanna play with some random person. But I'd really love to have the Rex and G3.

Fenrir.Enternius said: » F2000 is the AK74u of BF3. inb4 "Wouldn't the AKS-74u be the AK74u?" Clearly you haven't come across a PP-2000. I can only assume that because of it's tiny *** caliber it has almost no recoil at its 27,000,000,000,000,000,000,000fire rate and I'm just getting dropped by not 3-4 but in fact 30-40 rounds faster than I can fire back. Haven't personally used the F2000, but most people I cross who are using it don't beat my A-91 or G36C. Psycho Slip said: » I'm up for it if you are.. Sent you a message, I got about 30-45 mins (isn't rigid but don't wanna go way passed that) before I have to start cooking. All the prep is done, gotta wait for wife to go get son from school though.
Slip and I beat the 5th co-op mission 'Drop 'em like liquid' on the 5th try. was a little tricky but we got it. Unfortunately the server crashed right at the end of the last mission ~.~
