Well BETA is closed, but I came across this article and felt I should post it. Namely because the Battlelog forums have been filled with people bitching and complaining about the BETA and threatening to withdraw their pre-order because the game was buggy..
Probably the number 1 point you couldn't hammer through some of these people's heads with a 10 pound sledge hammer is that BETA =/= demo. Seems like a lot of people went into it with the attitude that this was supposed to be a demo.

played it a bit at a friend's house. When the open beta started he was all about that. After a while something funny happened. He had more fun playing with his pets than with BF3... He then declared: meh, it's Battlefield.
Oh my god is this not the savior that all of youtube, Gametrailers, Gamespot have been waiting for. That game that will demolish every other multiplayer-FPS's into little candy bars?

But that's it: fun. Nothing more. Hell i play a mmo that came out 2002 and still enjoy it, even more than this game.

Just went out and preordered finally even though the midnight release at gamestop is tomorrow night lol.
I also just learned that the beta some of us played was MONTHS old, and nowhere near the current status of the game project.
Personally i liked the beta even with its flaws, i guess maybe because i understand what beta truly means.

I was just discussing this with a friend, when did you all start playing FPS games?
For me it was probably around 98 on Mplayer client playing Rainbow Six and the expansion that came out eaglewatch lol.... go go heartbeat sensors :|
Then i think then i moved on to Counter-strike, then to Ghost Recon, then back to Counter-Strike, and then onto Call of Duty 4 eventually after a long sprint with FFXI in between each.
Last thing i did play was blackops but mostly for the zombies with some friends, but i did enjoy multiplayer to a point... and even though i didnt list every FPS game i ever played i only mentioned the ones where i spent actual time enjoying.

My first FPS was Doom. After that, didn't play any for ages until the Timesplitters games. Got Resistance when I received my PS3 and loved it, ended up purchasing the sequel and also adored it. Got into CoD around MW2 and have since purchased Black Ops and MW1. Will be getting both BF3 and MW3.
I don't remember how old I was, but first FPS game was Goldeneye. First online FPS was Medal of Honor: Allied Assault.

Doom and Timesplitter series was amazing, also quake and oh i totally forgot about unreal tournament original, but i didn't get to play too much of them sadly.

Doom II to Goldeneye to Perfect Dark to Ghost Recon to COD 4 for me. I've been on the going nowhere COD train as of late, but still beats anything anyone else comes out with. What happened to games like the original Goldeneye? Why won't Clancy put out a multiplayer Ghost Recon?
4 days! Though I'm not sure how much of it I'll actually play x.x Just not enough motivation anymore.
I just had the displeasure of learning that once i pick the game up at the midnight release, the online servers won't go live until 3am EST time zone :(
But best believe i will be installing the HD textures, game files to disk, and then blasting the single player during that wait lol.

I'm on campus 90% of the time now, and we play 4 player games often so Kirby is my aim and if we're not playing on the Wii, then it's handheld time, so gotta put money towards that...
