So, to recover this thread I have didz moar testing! I went out to abyssea la'th and ukko's frogs that were DC. I fought them down to low hp(IE:only first hit landed) and ukko's them with 100-110tp. Once they had all lvled I cleaved till they were DC again. rinse repeat. using RR/15% crit rate gear I didn't see 1 ukko's that looked like a noncrit in 100 mobs. I am 99.9% sure ukko's first hit is 30% crit rate.
As the only way I could think of to test notfirst hits would be to WS lvl1 bunnys till I miss first hits I wont be testing it.

Honestly I cant think of much to hope for in respect to war gear. Back at the 85>90 lvl cap I was hoping war would get a good stp body and SE delivered with af3+2. This update though theres nothing I'm really hoping to get. Maybe nicer looking mdt gear? The most realistic things to hope for (unless they go all out and release even more OP gear to replace stuff like af3+2 pants/shoes) are good stp options w/o negative stats enableing for a 5hit w/o losing tons of stats and the ability to eat good food.
This is what I currently use~ I need to save the gil to update to Hachi legs but I seem to keep getting ***for using Ire Torque +1 instead of the Tonberry neck.. And as stupid as it sounds (yes I know) wouldn't Cerberus Mantle +1 be better for WS inside Abyssea than Atheling seeing as the WS is STR based and not ATK? Yes I know the 2% DA is awesome for my first WS hit but 2% more isn't really that much seeing as it will rarely help. Not trying to look stupid or start ***i'm just drunk and wondering.
Last I checked Atheling was 3% DA.

I'm pretty sure if you plug them both into Motenn's WAR spreadsheet math will say otherwise.

af3+2 legs>jingang. you can save your gil on hachi legs, they are actually behind many other free options including af3+2.
Rancor collar definitally out performs ire+1.
a str+3~4 earring will probably out perform rajaver's earring.
Cerb+1 vs atheling basically comes down to 3%da vs 4str. the DA pulls ahead.
Rings are fine assuming you dont lose your 6(I assume) hit w/o rajas.

I have Rajas for TP, I just WS in 2x Pyro for 2 more STR.
Question, how do u know that u are capped for tonberry hate for the 5% on rancor collar?

how the hell do you expect 7 STR to win over 5% DA and 15 Attack? Hachiryu doesn't win over that.

The Tonberry Priest (Temple of Uggalepih, behind the door at F-11) will ask you for 6000G to erase your Tonberry hate

Also, if they do add salvage upgrades, I easily see Ares' body destroying grim, even grim +1. I don't see them adding a significant amount of dex or acc though to beat Twilight or E.body. I could also possibly see Ares' legs being able to pull ahead of +2 in some situations. This is obviously assuming with some worthwhile augments, of course, such as crit dmg/rate, double/triple attack, etc.
