I Hate Anime - What's Wrong With Me?

Personally, the only anime I ever watched was Dragon Ball Z and Gundam Wing, and this was waaaay back in the day. If people enjoy watching a ton of anime, then whatever. Everyone has their likes and dislikes, so to each his own. The only thing that some anime fans enjoy that I truly don't understand is having a huge collection of figures/dolls/whatever of anime girls. That has got to be the most potent form of vagina repellent this world has ever seen.

My only issue with anime is when you get the characters who stop and spend X ammount of time explaining everything there going to do before they do it...

I agree to an extent on that.
But that's just because I tend to purchase things that have more functionality rather than for a certain aesthetic.
I do have a donald duck bobble head i got in a box of serial that chills on the tv stand, but i don't really think that really fits in the same vein as having a whole bunch of little female models or anything like that lol.
but that's beyond being an anime fan really.
that goes into being an "otaku" or a "weaboo", where the line is drawn is when an individual has become overly apparent in an obsession with asian culture in general lol.
i treat anime like most other forms of media.
it just gets a bad rap because people assume it's automatically for children lol.
but it all really hinges on what you are looking at lol.
people seem to only associate cartoons with childrens things which is a silly assumption in and of itself.
if it was you wouldn't have half the ***they air on cartoon network for adult swim lol.
well hell you wouldn't have an adult swim in the first place actually if cartoons/anime were only in the section of childish things lol.

yup I hate it as well, and I'm anime/movie/tv visual media nerd lol.

I'm not being prejudiced. I think though Anime is somewhat for the younger generation, granted there is some adult content.

Anime and Cartoons in general are for the "younger generation" because a good deal of the "older generation" thinks in the way just like your own.
Hell we've only had movies for like the past 100+ years...it's not something you can technically define by generations because we are entering into new realms in the visual media world every day, so pre-concieved notions aren't always well made.
Don't think I'm trying to say you're bad for being prejudice, just that I'm calling it like I see it.

And I am in no way saying that you should like anime if you don't, but it still shouldn't be taken as being only for X people in my opinion.
Unless you are someone who watched a few bad movies and swore off all movies because you "don't like movies"

Nothing is wrong with you OP. Tastes are tastes, they vary by people.
Nothing to do with "oh I'm a grown up and these are just cartoons" or anything like that.

Your dislike in anime is linked to your taste I think. There are things you like and things you don't, anime being one of them. Nothing wrong with that at all.

I can agree with that, as long as people don't mix up taste with "watching a cliche anime therefore anime is all like that"

it really is up to our interpretation without the OP saying a bit more as to "why" he doesn't like it IMO.

I also completely agree with you.
One thing is to dislike anime simply because it's out of your tastes.

Another is to simply dislike all anime because somehow you labeled them as "they are all junk". Then you're just not open-minded at all.

Hell, I still read Naruto and Bleach.
There's infinite tides of complaints for Naruto and Bleach. But essentially they do not represent the whole genre we call "anime".
There's very interesting animes, like Bakemonogatari, Gundam 00 (this, coming from someone who's not a fan of mecha), etc.

I like some Anime, I don't just watch it to watch it though. Some common tropes in Anime bug me, but I thoroughly enjoy others.

Saying you don't like anime because of appearances is a little silly though, but then people are often HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE.

Do you not like anime or do you not like cartoons in general? Some people just don't like watching animated shows. I'm not entirely sure you weren't a bit tongue-in-cheek with the post, though. Seems that it wasn't entirely serious.

If having guns in it is a pre-requisite maybe you should try Full Metal Panic. Although, the main female has blue hair. I hope its not the color that bothers you O.o;

Hellsing has guns and women in it. Even dogs. I think the dogs get shot though.

If you want a sports anime... I can't really suggest much because I think most of them are really predictable. You might try Giant Killing if you like soccer. Its a short-ish soccer anime that wasn't horrible.

Ghost in the Shell might not be a bad choice for you. Plenty of gun fights in that.

If you like zombies, guns, death, gore and scantily clad girls... Try Highschool of the Dead.

If you don't mind reading a manga, try Jormungand. Its about an arms merchant and her bodyguards. Plenty of guns and women.

If you watch all of these and hate anime still, ho well. Its a good thing there's a lot more to life than anime.

If you need a place to watch all of those you can go to animefreak.tv. Or if you like your stuff legal, Crunchyroll.com. You might even be able to catch some of that on Hulu.

and if none of this works....don't you dare watch Squidbillies and laugh!

It took me a while to get into anime. All the Asian cinema mags I read had loads of anime in it and I kinda felt like maybe I should try it. I like Death Note, Hellsing (tv show not ultimate) and as soon as I saw Kon in Bleach I was hooked.

I actually haven't noticed since she's become such a non-character. And not just cause she's barely in it and barely talks when she is. But because she doesn't do anything and has become such a ***. Kons doll without him in it has more personality now
