I Hate Anime - What's Wrong With Me?

I really hate anime. The blue hair and lots of sigh'ing drives me nuts. I love FFXI and have since 2003. I seem to be far from the norm here, somebody please explain to me what I'm doing wrong.

Here are some things I do like:

• Guns

• Sports

• Running

• Weight Lifting

• Women

• Beds with women in them

• Cooking

• Dogs

• Guns

• People that aren't from Arkansas

• Movies with Christopher Walken

• Bailey's Irish Cream (in a shoe)

What do I need to add to this list to like anime?

Also, please rate down if you're really pissed at me for not liking anime.

I hate anime and I AM Japanese.

There's nothing wrong with you...I wouldn't say I hate it, but I dislike it. I cannot possibly understand the fascination some people have with it. But, to each their own. 8)

How about we start by having you tell us what types of anime you've watched and disliked? Also why did you dislike them? What made you dislike them? etc?

Then we could formulate our suggestions to be more specific and to the point.

For me it's not so much hating or even disliking anime itself, but the fans and how they act over it. It's like Justin Bieber, I'd absolutely love to punch him in his face, but it would mean jack all to me unless it was infront of all his fans.

There's nothing wrong with you for not liking anime. After all, it's cartoons. Most adults outgrow cartoons, but some don't. Unfortunately for you and me, most of the ones that don't outgrow cartoons are also huge fans of the Final Fantasy and Dragon Warrior series, etc.
Some of these folks are full-blown Weeaboos , and some are more mild anime enthusiasts. They're usually awkwardly thin, and tend to enjoy throwing frisbees rather than footballs, if they go outdoors at all.

Yes, this is stereotyping. But it's at least partially valid.

Bottom line: you're in a Final Fantasy-based forum about a Final Fantasy game ... you're going to be surrounded by anime fans. But that doesn't mean there's anything wrong with you if you have different interests. Just because you don't "fit the mold" doesn't mean you're purposefully "going against the grain". You be you.

I agree with Jaguarx, there are so many flavors of Anime that there is bound to be something you like. You just need to know where to look.

Meh, I don't find anime that great, either. I really like Trigun, but even other popular animes just don't fascinate me. Like Cowboy Bebop. It's ok, I don't dislike it. But it's not half as amazing to me as everyone says it is. Meh.

well there are plenty of different types of animes out there

i mean if you like shooting and ***you might like black lagoon

Try Full Metal Panic, Ghost in the Shell, Gungrave, Hellsing, Cowboy Bebop, Vampire Hunter D (the latest movie) and/or a Miyazaki Film such as Howl's Moving Castle or Mononoke Hime (Princess Mononoke).
All of the aforementioned have plenty of guns and women, except any Miyazaki film. Those are eye candy for sure and then some. (I.e. those who appreciate beautiful art)
