Making hexa better
Anyway,
A proper Realmrazer build (the one on my item sets) is about 9% ahead of the best I can get Hexa Strike to do (also in my item sets), using the same TP set. Realmrazer pulls slowly ahead the higher the potential attack penalty on Hexa Strike is. I had previously been using Rajas on my Hexa set, but I think Pyrosoul will fare marginally better versus anything DC or higher - since your critical hit rate will likely be floored on WHM. Non-Kraken offhands:
Everything but OA2-4 and STR are trash, don't even think about them. Using my sets, I get OA2-4 and STR to both be about a full 25% behind Kraken builds ... STR is slightly ahead of OA2-4. I sent these to Camaroz just now, but:
Quote: Offhand comparisons: Optimal Kraken DPS: 255 Sort of acceptable STR Magian DPS: 203 OA2-4 Magian DPS: 202 OAT Magian DPS: 200 <Run away!> Yagrush 99 DPS: 192 Gambanteinn 99 DPS: 191 Store TP Magian DPS: 191 Moepapa DPS: 184 DA Magian DPS: 182 (using the sets / targets as specified previously) Also lol @ Yagrush 99. WHM can't use Justiciar's.
That seems to do pretty well.
That setup works better for Gambanteinn (90) than just copy-pasting my Mjollnir set. (Assuming Realmrazer) That aside, The only reason I'd use Gambanteinn is for Dagan and infinite life while soloing. Relic's cheap, just do it.

I must confess, I'm an owner of the DA club, plus the 10% WS club. Its one of those trials I started when trials first came out thinking it would be the ***. Now I'm stuck having/wanting to finish it. Am I stupid to offhand Double Attack? /sob short answer, yes TP: Mjollnir will be my first and only relic!
Aren't all of those options horrible compared to just changing jobs to DNC?
You could go DNC/WHM and still have higher DPS than WHM/NIN.
Lakshmi.Byrth said: » You could go DNC/WHM and still have higher DPS than WHM/NIN. Yeah, but WHM/NIN suffers a lot less shame. Also, I assume if you're on WHM/NIN you probably have some other melee with you, meaning you're a lot more beneficial to them on WHM than you would have been on DNC.
If you remove haste from the equation (Oynos can die in all the fires) then WHM and DNC are about even. So yeah, with mage backup ... DNC is way ahead. But, an effective Mjollnir WHM/NIN *is* the mage backup. I would definitely solo on DNC, but for constructive duoing/low-manning, Mjollnir WHM/NIN offers a lot more support for not a lot less damage. What are WHM/NIN's support advantages over DNC/WHM in a situation where it's viable for WHM to melee? Boost spells vs. Haste Samba?
And if you're going to bring mage backup for a supporting DNC, you don't bring a WHM/NIN. You bring a COR or BRD/WHM and the DNC switches to /SAM or /NIN. <--- in, like, 6 person parties. In a really low man group, you would have the DNC sub NIN and not take damage. Then you could bring a RDM/NIN or WHM/NIN or whatever you want as a mage-with-Haste option. There's no real use for this at the moment though, but there's also no real use for Dancer in general. If I wanted useful I would have made something besides a Mjollnir.
But, it seems like it can work on paper, so hopefully I can make use of it in limbus or something. I'm sure it will work (in Tier 1 new Metal Chip Limbus), but many things work and some of them work better than others.
Quote: What are WHM/NIN's support advantages over DNC/WHM in a situation where it's viable for WHM to melee? Boost spells vs. Haste Samba? Near-Infinite MP while engaged, still a lot of refresh options when not engaged. Ability to be useful if a situation manages to arise where front-line support isn't viable. Better cures Boost-Spells Better shell if something casts Enfeebles Ability to sleep It's obviously not something I'm going to be using for serious events, but I think the main draw for me is the ability to switch between front and back-line whenever you need to do it (although obviously dropping some of your backline prowess by subbing NIN ... but I mean ... the number one subjob for WHM is THF nowadays anyway). Also there's my insatiable and inexplicable desire to use sub-optimal hybrid things better than most people handle their optimal specialized things.
If most of those matter, then you aren't at an event where WHM/NIN is viable. This is kind of made obvious by your bolded benefit.
Also there's the novelty factor.
Also you're a WHM, beating things to pieces. What's cooler than that?
