Bleh. Managed to kill all the mobs for the paladin quest on THM, got the items, then phased out of the battle zone and it said I had to be Gladiator to advance.. and lost the items..

I figured it out the hard way as well, soloed at 39 with some meds for mp and food up and the lv39 armor.

Edit: If you make a macro for it you might be able to swap over quickly if you kill them with your weapon away but can't say for sure.

I think they made some excuse about the shield being a part of the character modle not an equipment modle when asked about the shield.
