EX33 used AI. Still game of the year.
They used AI for placeholder textures to allow testing and assessment prior to the final textures being completed. Most of them were gone by launch, and they claim all were removed within a few days afterwards. Whether or not that's true, the scope of AI use seems to be extremely limited (subcontractors, purchased textures, that unknowningly had it).

The statement is technically correct but not meaningful. The game was not substantially influenced by AI. Little different from someone who can't even code thinking they'll singlehandedly ship a game using AI as a replacement for knowledge.

It's just a tool. Used correctly, you want it.
Sure, I agree on this. However, I think that 'used correctly' is used very minimally for creative works.

I thought panta has some coding background.

Also aren't game engines like unreal, unity, godot or gamemaker made with the intention to minimize the need for coding so devs can focus on fine tuning mechanics and art?

The fact that he's soloing doesn't mean he can't succeed either.
I think flappy bird and vampire survivor were both made by just one guy and were pretty successful. Balatro was also a solo dev project.

Ex33 had AI in very early builds as placeholders, they were all removed except for one that was missed, a random texture on a random lamppost. Someone noticed it months after release and everyone got up in a tizzy over it. It was all performative *** over a nothingburger.

They don't really remove the need for coding, they replace some elements of code with graphical display systems that use visual nodes instead. The logic is still required and if you don't understand how the underlying code works, many of the same mistakes you'd make writing real code are still possible. Bonus that you get an extra performance hit from the interpretation layer.

The game you're looking for is Stardew Valley, and yes solo devs can absolutely make amazing games that are extremely well received or extremely well crafted or even both.

I don't mean to say that Panta can't possibly do it, but using AI as a replacement for knowledge instead of an addition to it has proven to be pretty ineffective.

I picked flappy and vampire because I believe they probably weren't super sophisticated to make from a programming stand point yet they still were successful.
Minecraft was originally also developed by a single person before it got sold to microsoft and became one of the most popular games out there. the best selling game together with tetris according to wikipedia.

Jordan dropped 61 points vs a Boston Celtics team with four Hall of famers *and* Larry Bird himself marking him.

Mj *averaged* over 40 points for that entire playoff series, the only time he played against Bird in the playoffs.

Even Bird places Jordan higher than himself.

Todays news:

One woman died and 113 other had food poisoning after eating at a pizzaria. After inspection, they found every single thing wrong in the place's hygiene, from insects, to rusty vessels, inappropriete temperature etc.

TBF what impressed me more is how many clients the place had while still serving rotten food.

Here is the places picture.

The story Im invested the most lately is the manhwa Plaything.

Dang, feels like every chapter is better than the previous.

Ive been constantly refreshing it daily for new updates.

And the it never fails to deliver.

It started as a simple revenge story, now is something huge.

Cant wait for the next one

I left RE9 feeling not very satisfied. Didn't feel complete and the story was garbage. There were fun gameplay moments but most felt shallow. But everywhere you look online ppl are singing its praises who haven't even beaten the game. Consumer and influencer ideology is really destroying video games is so sad. I finally found some reviews that really nailed what o disliked about the game, and the comments on the video too. I miss the original games, are we living in dystopian times or am I becoming like the boomers.

The boomers didn't have video games.

Must be a dystopia.
But William Higinbotham invented virtual tennis in 1958, so Boomers did have video games!

And many other boomers went onto make the most beloved video games that lead to the current era! (Shigeru Miyamoto 1952. Richard Garriott 1961.

Pre-Xbox it's all Boomers or older, baby!

Player ages vary, but I'm talking about big name creators.

Shigeru Miyamoto created Mario. He is a Boomer.

Richard Garriott created Ultima. He is a Boomer.

Boomers played Tennis for Two, which was created by William Higinbotham, who is from, "The Greated Generation."

Seamus Blackley is the lead creative for the original Xbox, he is eldest Gen X.

Leading up to the eldest Millenials, older generations created the original video games that lead to the series we have now. They weren't widely disseminated before the late 70s and 80s, and didn't take off in popularity until Nintendo broke the industry back in after the crash of '83 but they had them!
