You know, in the book it made that scene a whole lot better than the movie.

Actually, there were a lot of things that the book made better than the movie portrayed. I think it's because of the actresses/actors imo.

The only one worth a damn was Phillip Hoffman, and he's dead! (Well, Donald Sutherland is doing a great job with President Snow, but he has so few lines...)

I don't mind the actors, I think most of them are doing a good job at their roles (although I still can't figure out for the life of me why they cast Julianne Moore as President Coin).

I think the failure with the movies boils down to the Director's vision and the cinematography.

Lord of the Rings Trilogy would have to be the best attempt. I say that about 95% of the movies were a good adaptation of the book (with reordering of events that is).

Harry Potter 1 & 2 were also good adpatations to the books. After The Prisoner of Azkaban, it went south fast.

The books got bigger with each one, more and more had to be left out or changed. But even then, they followed the books for the most part.

Deathly Hallows was really good. They kept nearly everything in thanks to splitting the book into two movies.

EDIT: Although they milked the hell out of Snape's Memories in an attempt to make him a redeemable character. Blegh, dude's disgusting. Alan Rickman did a hell of a job portraying him though.

Oh god, after recently going to Houston myself, I can't say how much I feel sorry for you on this....

Especially if you take the IH10 approach. Expect at least 2 hours in traffic getting there and leaving!
