trying to figure something out:
wired up 4 power outlsets in my car, each about about 12v on the line, but I grounded them all to bolts/nuts on my floorboard near my ecu, because I found ground with my meter there, and it was just the easier way to do it. But I'm finding that I'm having static on my speakers when I plug something in at least one of the sockets now (haven't tested them all) but when I go to play I don't hear any distortion, and am wondering if I should bother to try to remedy it or not. Sharing a ground like that shouldn't cause backfeed, but then again I'm not certain that circuit city wired the radio up properly in the first place, even though I'm pretty sure they just used a plug adapter from the stock. Schizm Gallantry said: » This is a rough job without back tracking and maybe even seeing if Circuit City during the installation install anything to prevent static from the engine. I have to admit I had to read up a bit on the different types of ways to get rid of that buzzing noises but really I would read up on forums and radio type to find quick fixes. Well I replaced the original stereo with one of the same make, different model, used the same connector, was a plug and go operation that I did a few years ago now, the noise didn't start until I just installed these wires, but the only thing that could make sense to me is that the ground may be bad. I guess I should check to see if where I grounded to is tied to the proper nut on the frame, as if it isn't, then it would also explain my check engine light being on, as the ecu isn't properly grounded. ugh, was trying to avoid actual mechanical ***... I may see if my uncle can take a look at it, he's a thousand lifetimes more car savvy than I am. I am honestly not sure where the radio is grounded, and it's not creating distortion during play, so I'm wondering if I'll even bother with it.
The car has no usb, and until now not a working power outlet, I ran 4 wires from some optional hook ups from the under dash fuse box. I do believe the one power is shared with the radio, but that shouldn't really cause an issue, it's just going to pull more current from that connection. (wait, it's not even the one that I'm using at the moment, hmm...) I would have assumed that the car uses a common ground, but I guess I was wrong, and may just have to find another spot to ground out at. I think I'll double check what I just put in, and after that say *** it, as it's not that bad, only the few seconds while starting the car to when the mp3 player cuts on. Lv44 fishing now. Hope this is worth it lol, also that I can afford to get the Lv50 gear for it.
gathering melds are pretty cheap. be glad you're not doing a craft .-. that's where it sucks
