What I mean is (and hear me out on this one), SE could have drawn inspiration from european places such as Southern France, like Marseilles, Réunion (an island on the indian ocean) and Gordes (a hilltop village that looks similar to the Adoulin Palace). Not to mention, Western Adoulin's music has an Accordion (at least, I think that's an accordion!) XD
It was just an odd observation I had!
I always liked Aht Urhgan's design the most, it felt the most exotic. The rest of the original FF areas were just normal stone castles and towns. WotG had the best music though imo >.>
Aht Urghan is very arabesque, indeed...but the mediterranean influences of Adoulin seem to draw me in a lot more!
I haven't played in quite a while so I don't really know what it looks like
