The real trouble, according to eye witnesses here in the downtown core, is a small group of radical troublemakers (RE: real life trolls with no interest in the politics/economics of the summit) destroying anything they can break. Most of the protesters are peaceful and not interested in raising hell.

Police have done little to prevent this destruction of property and instead focus on harassing and detaining the peaceful protesters - resorting to unprovoked violence against bystanders is later justified using the aforementioned 'trolls' as an excuse.

The media reports on smashed windows and burning cop cars but offers little balanced information on what's happening at Queen's Park because they had to clear the area or be detained/arrested and risk being caught in the police led violence (crowd control?) at the peaceful rally.

It's the same thing that happens at every global summit; generally polite and rational Canadians (both police and protesters) have had a chance to look like morons for all the world to see.

It's not funny and it's worth taking a moment to research.

Most protests, particularly in Canada, are peaceful events...

Your blanket statement shows you don't really know a lot about the current situation in Toronto or about protests in general. In a western, democratic country we expect both authorities and civilians to obey the law.

You obviously don't know how America works. The land of the free, the home of the brave, a country where one crooked cop can ruin the life of an innocent man with one lie. This is what I know, the authority I'm used to. I don't know about other countries, but I know of human nature and how those with authority will use and abuse said authority. Not all people in prison are guilty and not all people walking the streets are innocent. Things are backwards. You can protest the way things are, but you'd probably be severely injured or arrested. Besides, most protests are either results through violence or results through annoyance, and more often than not, no results at all. It all boils down to authority and if the authorized are easily annoyed or well guarded.

Their goal is to damage a lot of property, not kill other people. That's not something to get shot over, even if it's really dangerous what they're doing.

I live in Brampton, and in a heavy law enforcement family. Knowing what I know about all the things that happened throughout the day sickens me to no end...These people come in from all over the world to criticise governments and particularly police's "heavy handed" policies, spread misinformation to manipulate easily swayed people into their ranks, then turn around and act like this, FORCING law enforcement into reacting to them to protect themselves as well as citizens and more businesses from being vandalised, then say "see, we told you they're nazis! WE are the good guys" It's disgusting, and it hurts me a great deal...

A big chunk of them have been arrested already, no doubt they will roll on other names to police, as they always do, so those people can be taken off the streets as well. This scum gives democratic process and protest a bad name, and it hurts me deeply to see it.

I'd avoid non essential travel to Toronto as I've advised my friends that too, between the protest groups and the police being forced on extreme edge, it's a very tense situation. I use the term protesters loosely, as they aren't in reality protesters at all. Just anarchists purposely looking for confrontation against police in large numbers while cowardly wearing matching outfits and concealing their faces. Regardless, a dangerous situation that civilians have no business being near or they have only themselves to blame, so listen to police when you're told to leave an area, it's for your own safety. It helps in targeting the bad apples a great deal. Just err on the side of caution for the short term.

"a fallacy is a misconception resulting from incorrect reasoning in argumentation."

I'm not incorrect. That's how things are, I'm speaking from things that have affected my family. A local, well-known, and well-hated cop lied about my brother, he got in trouble because of it and had to drop out and get a job to pay fines, court fees, etc. Is my brother innocent? In that case, I'm not sure, but loitering isn't worthy of all that. Is he innocent in general? Not really, he's pretty much a childish ***. Then again. My cousin had been caught countless times selling, using, and cooking Meth, same cop that arrested my brother gets him out of trouble repeatedly. That was until my cousin was caught with Meth on him at an airport, which the cop could do nothing about.

I really do think the seal hunt is nothing to get upset about -_- it's part of native culture.

As for beating people up, what does that actually accomplish? A stronger belief in anarchy and deeper hate for authority ;o

I thought it was for population control, albeit, through a brutal, and inhumane manner
