this picture really does not do justice to how majestic or regal its presence was. it was 5~6ft wide and 10+ ft long with the tail. if you can imagine the angle shown in the photo and what it might have been 15 seconds previous (took me a hot second to get my camera on and ready)... it passed in front of me probably 10 ft away at its closest. i was close enough to immediately count the poisonous spines on its back. the picture shows that detail in full res.
