I'd imagine most of the pieces he was wearing have significant meaning to him. For example, I farmed for about a month to get the ingredients for a friend to sign a vermilion cloak for me, and he ended up HQing it. I kept it in my inventory all the time and never sold it, even when I got an Ixion cloak to replace it.

Though, there has to be a pretty good story to justify Domaru..
