It's not the comment people like hearing, especially on a site where they go to see how to sell stuff (more sellers than buyers here), but supply & demand. Gold Thread is the best way to get from 54 to 58 in Clothcraft by far, provided you have the Goldsmithing. It also isn't a bad way to use gold ingots you may have made getting from 45 to 53 in Goldsmithing too. Add in that sales are Very Fast for singles and that each synth yields 2 Threads, and you have a potentially very large supply with a relatively weaker demand.
