For anyone trying to catch this finicky fish. I recommend sliced cod. I tried other baits and lures with no success. This fish will snap lines on Ebisu rod occasionally. Also had to do 4 boat rides with sliced cod to the reef location just to catch one. Cone calamari will hit on sliced cod on the reef tour.

Seem to only bite the second Khots says "Here we are, the Maliyakaleya Reef." You won't hook anything but kelp before and after crossing the reef.
