A lot of newbie dragoons make the mistake of thinking they should get the lowest delay weapon possible even at the cost of the damage rating. Don't do that. The TP gain from jump is also based on your weapons delay rating, only its instant. So go for large damage ratings when selecting a weapon =D
By just looking at the numbers, it might seem like Fuscina would be better since it has higher DPS and lightning damage. Keep in mind though, in addition to Forgotten's point, that the Platoon Lance is going to increase the damage of your weapon skills by a pretty significant amount.
I can't recommend using this over Military though at 28, the damage ratings are just too close to sacrifice hitting so much faster, plus the 1 STR from Military is nice.
Eh, Luciusbrimstone, if your going for speed and or/cheaper, go with a cruel spear. Evasion down > teeny lightning damage. My only point was simply to not discount weapons on the basis of delay alone though. In game when we talk about dps/dot we mean the total damage over time, which is going to include ws and the ffxiah.com dps value does not include that data. If there I couldn't get platoon or cruel, fuschina'd likely be my 3rd choice. Platoon's only 18 to 20k though, and cruel is usually in stock dirt cheap and easy to camp to boot.
I politely disagree with Forgotten. I felt that the high speed offered by Fuscina out weighed the loss of a little extra tp/the higher damage rating this offers. According to DPS, Fuscina should be better, and while I think that Forgotten brings up an excellent point concerning the TP return/damage on jump, I don't think the gains from this are substantial enough to merit using Platoon over Fuscina.
As an added bonus, Fuscina is significantly cheaper (on Kujata at this time), as well as offering additional effect: lightning damage, though of course, this did not proc very often.
Great lance for lv20 hands down. However, please replace it at lv24 for a spear+1:(dmg35 Delay:385) I'm sick seeing people using this wep til 30. Yes spear+1 is -2dmg but it also -107delay!!! Use your brains fellow drgs^^
