Look over those numbers and you'll see the gains from Saurian Helm...
Without AF pants equipped, Saurian Helm will give a 100hp gain.
With AF pants equipped, Saurian Helm gives a gain of 111hp.
Deep Breathing does not boost the effect.
Keep in mind that Deep Breathing is triggered before the healing breath kicks in. By equipping the Saurian Helm you are adding 100~111hp to the final result.
There are obviously other factors that can increase healing breaths such as wyvern exp bonus, wyvern hp+ gear, AF+1 pants, etc. With that in mind, there are later variables, but these are the basics.

Have Drachen Helm equipped when you trigger Healing Breath so your Wyvern can Heal with HP < 50%. Macro in Saurian Helm to get the increase in Healing.

this is truly a must-have for every dragoon that ever solos.
think this way: about 60% decrease in your mp usage.
I would even say - it should be the first thing you gather money for (not Barone i.e) as it increases your offensive output as well.
(not mentioning defense: great for farming any type of bats/aero-based-mobs, good def, and hp+).
To Byxfluzba: Yes, it affects Healing Breath, but relic helm still affects it better. For DRGs, it is only good if you don't wanna do Dynamis/can't get one to drop. Still certainly worth it, of course, since you can just sell it if you ever get a relic helm.
For BLU though, it is quite nice, as Kaslo said. Especially when you're fighting something extremely resistant/immune to melee; breath spells are your best option in such cases.
