@ stan, And I have no problem if religion would stay out of my face, and by that I mean stop dictating law on who I can marry and (if I were a female) what I can do with my body. I think for some (not all) religion can be a good thing, gives people a moral compass as it were, although I don't think that you need religion to have morals and ethics.
If religion stopped doing that then I'd have no prob, they CAN do good things, feed the hungry ect (although that can come with strings too, you wanna eat? you have to go to mass).
The minor thing about them coming to my door and trying to convert I could deal with , I simply say no thank you blah blah have a nice day ect

btw I'm not gay, I'm bi currently engaged to a wonderful women but I'd like to marry who ever I fell in love with.

@ Trini exactly, if you believe in anything you should be able to a have calm debate with the opposing side.

edit: Yeah it does effect me and everyone around me on a day to day basis, they can not marry who they love, if they're gay

See I am a christian, and i do not give a ***about who you marry. About what a female does with her body that depends, what do you mean?

I see strict parents not allowing their daughters not to have earrings or wear make up in their teens... that is the rules of the house. If your parents say no to something it is no, doubt it is because they are religious people.

There is ***you do and do not do. Your family probably would have a structure that has not been broken in generations. Thats how your family structure is do not do not immoral *** ***to disgrace your family mainly your parents. See I was raised by strict parents, so I know how it is. It is besides religion (meaning not only religion) for moral points. The innocent people are the ones you are attacking, who believe in god or what ever.

Your point about have them get out of my face has no basis.. who is in your face? so what if they said you can not get married to more than one women. Moral structure for a family member to follow, should be followed. You really did not need religion to know this did you? I doubt it, you are not looking at it my way. People believe in god, or what ever other religion, so what? when you speak like this you also attack them as a whole.

why not just say when the people who get in my face with religion, ie the ones who tell me what I should do (I doubt anyone is) thats when I am being happy. Did someone slap the ***out of you? seems like if some religious forcing is being done to your or everyone you probably need it.

I see what you meant by who you can marry; I doubt religion has anything to do with it. Go after the politicians in your state about denying same sex marriage not, religions people who are innocent, and staying of this ***. I won't touch that topic, I do not care for it. I see it as pointless to bicker about. If that is a reason to hate religion, guess what, you are pathetic.

Hardly

I agree, stupid, ignorant people. Religion is not really the basis for war. You have a lot to *** learn, and it does not start it either.

What I'd really like to know is, have any of you Bible-bashers actually read the Bible?

No, I mean, really. For the last 15 pages (lol@me, I read 'em all) I've seen most (read: most) of the posters basing their hatred for religion on the actions of ONE stereotype of ONE religion, Christianity.

Fine, BE that way; for all I know the majority of those of you who condescend to so-called "Christianity" live in the Bible Belt and have only been exposed to the actions of Southern Baptist Christian behavior (read: HUMAN hypocrisy). (Not to debase the theology of the Southern Baptist, but rather to state the dominant denomination of the Christian church in that area.)

You proclaim the supposed ignorance of anyone who believes a silly little book of which you've only heard rumors of rumors, or perhaps you've actually been to Sunday School and recall the stories told and conveyed through coloring books and frumpy story-tellers.

Opinions based on fact is what I want. Opinions based on the actual god-damned-breathed Bible (see wut I did thar?) I'll accept. Otherwise you're not criticizing a belief OR a religion--you're criticizing a simply human state of mind, placed within a religious setting.

CAN I FREAKING GET SOME CONTEXTUAL CITATION (read: CON-TEKST-CHU-WUL SIGH-TAY-SHUN) FOR ANY CLAIMS ON CHRISTIAN "LAWS," PLEASE.

You guys are killing me, both as a science major (we write things called "articles", you may have heard of them) and as a Bible-thumpin' Jesus freak.

Jesus is not real, you can't see him, smell him, or hear him. We can only "feel" him, but thats as creepy as having the feeling that someone is watching you.

Oh please, I tried to read the bible and I got bored and stopped a small bit through it. Most christians too do not read the bible. I have met more atheists who have read the bad book. The best stories are they were christian until they read the bible.
wut

-edit- So, after reading this, like, ten times over, what you're saying is that you
  1. Haven't read the Bible whose beliefs you profess to dislike,

  2. Dislike the beliefs of people who also haven't read the Bible themselves, and

  3. Agree with the views of those who have read the Bible themselves.

...Are you sure you're not... like, y'know... Christian?

I have read the Bible, been to church many times and attended Sunday School as a child. I did these things due to my grandparents. As an adult now, I do none of the above because even as a child I was saying to myself, "Waitwut?..."

Fact Prop 8 in California was funded by 40 millions dollars for Utah Morons.
To stan I won't go to your level of calling names using curse words to try and prove my point. I have read the bible, I went to Sunday school, I went to a christian k-6 school. I well aware of what the bible says, funny enough it says nothing about hating people diffrent from you, or judging people. Oddly enough it says the exact opposite.

And really and what religion stops females from doing what they will with their bodies? The right to choose.

Edit: Stan you are a horrible debater, by attacking my as a person and not the context of what I said.

When I can find the link to what group of Utah Mormons (mostly) funded prop 8 (the Gay/lesbian discrimination act) I'll post it.

FYI to all those who wish to "protect the union of marriage" go focus on drive-threw weddings in vegas that could take less then 5 minutes before you "protect" marriage between to people who love each other and happen to be gay

i just think the potential babies (test tube babies, but still babies) are not alive and worth the sacrafice for the betterment of humanity. If you can even call it a sacrafice, they are being grown for that very purpose.
