yes, i do it with all the updates. usually takes an hour or so after the maintenance starts before you can download it that way, but yeah, it works.

I and my rl better half play together on Garuda.
We of course did the marriage, and now have rings engraved.
She has to change her name when the servers merge, does that mean I have a new wife, or are we gonna get free rings corrected?

rofl... that's funny. If the person with your wife name is checking you and you have a wedding ring on with her name on it it will be a great wtf moment. Find if that person have a boyfriend, if yes find him and have him check you and start some troubles!

On a serious note, I too wonder what will happen with signed items... if someone have my name and the signature doesn't change then all the gears I signed and gave to friends will now have the name of someone that is not me on that server lol... ^^;

I have a feeling signed gears name won't change with your new character name, probably too much trouble to do. =(

You keep them I believe, unless the items I signed with my name from a previous server are a result of a glitch.

I have quite a few signed items on me such as Snow Ring, Corsage, and some gifts from friends. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Sadly not. Garuda has been the smallest in the last two censuses. But Lakshmi was 3rd smallest the census before last, so why on earth we're merging with Lakshmi is beyond me. I would've thought the smallest merging server would go to the biggest destination.
