Beta To Kill Xi
Beta to kill xi
yesterday I was basicly on all day and until about midnight EST. there was never more then 1800 people logged on. now with the beta, I can only think the server will be even emptier. also for brand new players making their first char. do you have an option of servers or is it auto balancing like during NA release? if no auto balance and beta, unicorn is gonna be dead... anyone want to hunt NMs?

For one only a small number of people are playing the closed beta. For all you know the beta sucks and in playing it they will discover (or already have *cough first new lvl cap in 7 years cough*) they need like 2 more years to work on it before they are ready to do open beta testing let alone release the "final" version to the public

my server is not in the merge and its almost as small as those listed. I'm glad its not being merged, but even so its going to get emptier
I'll still play FFXI also. The Beta for FFXIV will only last so long, and then everyone will be on FFXI again til another beta wave comes out in who-knows-when.
11 is far from dead. there's gonna be alot of ppl that don't
have the rigs to play this game. they are cutting half the servers this month. and they probably do it one more time
before they close the game. Hell EQ1 still has servers up.

ah i guess its not... but like dasva said only so many people will be in the beta, and i know many of them aren't quitting XI because of it. i've been seeing these "OMG XI IS OVER!!" threads for a long time and XI is still up and running >.> as it will be as long as it makes money..
look at everquest 1 and 2. (i'm sure someone has pointed this out before) 2 came out and 1 population decreased, then it went back up. they are both still running...

Idk about your server but this afternoon when i logged on instead of the normal 800-1.2k people online there was 2k ppl on Pandy thow now there only 800...

But really, I'm not worried. I still enjoy the game and I will continue to play XI until I either all my friends leave or I feel content enough to call it quits.
But with all this new stuff on the way I think I'll be busy for a long time yet. I hope some people still feel that way instead of just rage quitting.

Lets add to this shall we? I used to play Ultima Online. Game of the Year, 1997. That's a long time ago. I don't play anymore, but I still have ties to Wolfpack there. The game just put out a new expansion last year.
Is it doing great? Good enough they keep the servers up and make expansions for it.
Do you ever hear anything except maybe those freaks who talk about free servers? Most likely not.
Relax people. Things in FFXI are as good as they ever were. Maybe better. And if you feel so threatened that you have the urge to drop everything you've worked on, hey, that's your bag. I'm excited and until Ultima Online dies, I have no worries about this game disappearing. ^^

God i hope so... Im sure there is an outside world, not just the one in my dreams. It will be nice to see it, though lets be honest, the addiction wont stop just jump ship as it were!

This is actually good news, though. It means that FF11 will probably be a "long tail" game, which dwindles gracefully and slowly, staying up for many years to come until they can no longer pay their hosting bills. Ultima Online and Everquest are examples of this.
Other games which never proved they were as resilient as FF11 tend to die spectacularly and close up shop all at once. FF11 already survived that stage.

FF14 is already dead. Their not making it PC Exclusive. I have hardware on my computer that makes the PS3 look like an overpriced piece of junk. If SE is not going to make 14 be PC Onry then their idiots. I have the best hardware you can get for a computer.
EDIT: oh and before I get torn a new one, I work 96 hour work weeks to have the best pc hardware available. And no that doesn't bother me.

Which is cool and all, except there's only one of you, and your $13/month isn't worth any more than the $13/month of someone with "an overpriced piece of junk."
