Server Merges

I don't mind the server merge since Kujata is really low numbered, 900 people online is our usual number at any time ^^; I just hope that there won't be any conflicts regarding Limbus and Dynamis scheduling

To make the name changes as easy as possible they should just do something to the end of the name. I am currently on Garuda and moving to Laksh, so mine could be Faceles(G). Just a thought.

They did something like that on the Ballista servers whenever they did that. I really wished they'd do that but noooo.

All and all I think the server merge will be a good thing try putting a pty together on sylph at 6pm EST /sea all inv shows 15-30 people at all levels kinda sad really. Honestly I cant wait to be able to meet some new people ingame. Endgame has always been a drama filled mess but server merge will make it worse than normal for a while. I just wish after the merge they would let us shove all the asshats from all servers onto their own server so they can only annoy eachother.

Outside of JP peek times 1000-1100 people JP peek times on weekends maybe get upto 1200.

ALSO. SE should give free server transfer to anyone that has switch from one server being merged to another. They may have left for personal confilt reason.

Normally I would agree with you, but I'm going to respectfully disagree. Why should I lose my name to a mule? A level 1 mule. I've put in 7 long years under this name and atm I'm trying to negotiate it back, but it that fails... At least my RL Name isn't taken and I just reserved that on my own personal mule til merge day. It's a backup if I cannot have Karou back.

I have to agree, this is also not a "move" per say, this is a merger, involuntary at that, so the person with seniority with the name should be able to keep their name.

How is data kept on this server? If a name shows up in a search does that mean the name is for sure registered in the server database? I looked up some old characters that I know no longer exist on our server. One person even tried to come back and they said his character was not salvageable. His name still shows up when you search him on the server. If a character name shows up on a server search here does that mean that name will not be available to someone being merged to that server? - Even if the person shows no AH activity for over 2 years?

If the character doesn't currently exist on the server then the name is up for grabs.

If I were to switch to Asura server tomorrow.... someone with the same name could transfer to Garuda and keep the name or make a mule with my name.

As far as ffxiah goes, their transactions would just pick up from where the original user left off

What if the person on the new server isnt active anymore? My name is safe, but a friend of mine isnt >.< And the other guy on Queza&%$§& has the same name, but if you look at ffxiah, he wasnt active since 2008. Chances should be good then, to keep the name?

If you just changed servers and then you end up being reintegrated right back into the server you just paid to leave.

I'm sorry, my post was not clear. I can look up names of people on FFXIAH.com. Those people still show up even after years of a canceled account. What I am asking is how is that data showing up on this server. Is it cached from scraping server data long ago long ago or is that person still in that servers name registry? Basically, I am beginning to wonder if once a name is created on a server that name is stored forever. I have a few linkshell members that are being merged to a new server and their show up on a FFXI search but those names show no activity for about 2 & 3 years. The obviously no longer play but the show up on a FFXIAH search. Why? Does this necessarily mean those names are locked out?

Seems that everyone I've talked to in game seemed to of been completely unaware of this one VERY IMPORTANT detail on the server transfers:

Linkshell, Pearlsack and Linkpearl:
Pearlsacks and Linkpearls cannot be carried over to the "Destination World," and will disappear during the World Merge. Linkshell owners will receive an unopened Linkshell when they log into the "Destination World" for the first time. Unopened Linkshells will not be affected by the merge.

Please note that you will need to create a new Linkshell Community after creating a new linkshell on the "Destination World."

Of course all the destination servers (ex: Sylph) will experience is a surge in people population.

Not only does the merging server (ex: Fairy) have the risk of loosing their name and being forced to change it (or quit the game) but all of our current LS's will be shook up like a bunch of trailers houses in a tornado. We will have to manually keep track of all our LS mates because I'm sure most of us don't put 100% of all our LS in our friends list.

To all the destination servers we are being merged into... please, PLEASE be tolerant of those being merged because there will be lots of anger rolling over because they feel like they are getting bent over without any lube and the lack of the common courtesy of a reach around.

Over time all the angst will pan out and things will hopefully become semi-normal again.
